Bulb upgrade for headlights

My E91 does not have Xenons and due to the cost of a retrofit I am seeking alternative bulbs to improve the existing headlights.

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Before getting new bulbs, check your lights are not dipping down too much. I thought the same as you and went out and brought some new bulbs only to find adjusting the headlight beam up slightly was all I needed (and it’s a bast**d to change the bulbs).

I thought it was fairly straightforward to change 'em - just pop the cover in the wheel arch, take the bulbs out, put new ones in.

They are really difficult to change - Took me over an hour to change the pair of main beams.

I've gone for Philips X-TREME POWER H7 bulbs (the 80% brighter ones not the 50% ones).
Apparently they have better spread of light over Osram.

Anyhow they are definately better than the Osram OEM bulbs fitted.
They give a white shade of light (if you know what I mean)
