Had the facility Carlos, but never had them switched on. Not the fact that DRL's are a new idea, it's the style of the lights ie. LED.

I'd have the LEDs on the S5 on all the time regardless, and in fact, I think Audi meant for people to show them off. You can go in the MMI and adjust the brightness on them

Paul are you not tempting Viv to photoshop you in a pair of lederhosen?

They still wear them in southern Germany and Austria you know.

They're building a new Aldi across the road from Waitrose near me. Chalk and cheese.

I'm sure I read hat the 2009 Boxster will have LED DRL's fitted at the front... not sure if they are doing the same to the Cayman.

I'm wondering the the DRL rings on the E92 would benefit from a whiter bulb?

Now Gordon - why would you be taking an interest in the Boxster.

You're probably right though, especially if this is going to become law. I'm at the OPC Leeds next week, so I'll ask the guys there.

Originally thought the LED DRL's looked funky - for the first month or so started seeing them on the road, on S5's and the like.

Getting common now (particularly as they're on the new A4 S-Line & A3 cab), and within the next few months they'll be on every chavved-up Corsa, Saxo/106/Astra on the road....

+1

I agree the Audi A5 LED DLR's (sounds like a robot off Star Wars) do look good when it's dusky. IMO a bit pretentious when on in bright daylight though and doubt few would have their normal sidelights on all the time (Scandanavian Motors aside).

I have the DLR's de-activated on my E90. I also find myself turning off the auto lights some mornings as they come on when not needed when passing a shadowed stretch of road (regardless of the sesitivity). On the other hand I often switch on the angel eyes manually when dusky too cos I think it looks neat.

I am a little confused about the DRL's on E90's. I thought when activated both the headlights and side lights both came on all the time. Is this the case or, do only the angel eyes illuminate?

Has anyone noticed that there seems to be different types of DRL's on the audi A5. I meet an S5 and an A5 TDI on the road most days and they seem to have different DRLs.

The S5 has very white looking LED spots for each light unit wheras the lesser A5's 'LEDs' seems to be more yellow. I wonder if the cheaper model is just getting normal bulbs compared to the S5's LEDs. ?????

Yeah I did see that alright, but a less bright LED does not go yellow - if you know what i mean.

Perhaps the S5 guy has done something similar to the Angel Eye 8500K GP thunder mod

I liked them when they first came out but like the bmw angel eyes, they are being retrofitted to all types of cars. I've seen a Citroen C3, and 1st gen passat with the row of LED's.

All in all, I prefer BMW's... audi ones hurt my eyes on the road
