New plugs

Just wanted to pass along some info on new plugs I just swapped in.

My former Audi tuner had been using Brisk Racing on the really high horsepower builds for some time, and I decided to make the switch when we did the 100k service on the BMW. I have an '07 328XiT and went with Brisk's EOR15LGS plugs. They are nearly $14 a piece but the car's throttle response is noticeably improved and the car has never idled smoother.

I've used a lot of different plugs in various race cars, tuned, heavily boosted Audis and the BMW and these are truly great compared to every other plug I've used.

They seem to last forever as well.

Thanks for the tip!

How long do they last? I am assuming they are not as long-lasting as OEM (Iridium). They don't even look like platinum.

Are you 100% positive the "improvement" wasn't comparing to how the car was idling recently (with old and bad plugs)?

Cheers!

Positive. I used these in an Audi running 23lbs of boost and they lasted 20k miles when the Bosch plugs were misfiring at 3500 miles. With NGK and Bosch it got to the point where you changed plugs when you did oil changes on heavily boosted cars.

These produce multiple flame fronts and the idle difference is astonishing, not to mention throttle response.

This Youtube vid makes the difference pretty clear. We run these in the race car as well for endurance racing.

Brisk can be purchased direct on their site (here's the LGS link):

http://www.briskracing.com/brisk-racing-lgs-spark-plugs

They do a lot of development work with Lamborghini. I know people using these on cars that run 30+ lbs of boost with water methanol injection which is notoriously finicky and prone to misfiring. They all rave about them.

Subscribed. Do you know the change interval for the LGS and have you gauged to see if your MPG has improved?

I tried doing some quick searches but haven't found any definite answers.

They don't even list 335 under their options. How do you figure EOR15LGS is the correct plugs?

........ oh wait... you have a 328.

In a 328, a regular factory platinum/iridium plug should go at least 75K miles if the engine is in tune correctly.

I've heard the same, and on the Ford Focus. My built 2.7 v6 twin turbo Audi loved them, as does the 328.

OP has given more than one reason.
Also, if you mod your car, why would the original (not modded) plugs be the answer? Think about that.

Cheers!

I would imagine most of what you are feeling has less to do with the brand of plug and more to do with having new plugs over ones with 100k miles on them.

Either way, glad you are happy.

A brief 45 minute drive in rather heavy traffic today on Interstate 5 north of Seattle yielded 29.2mpg with the new plugs.

I'd like to see a bit longer period before I make wild claims about mileage, but this is somewhat better than I've seen in previous weeks prior to the shift to these plugs.

Unsuitable plugs can kill engines. How do you know they dont have a glow plug effect under certain conditions?

Knock detect and on board wide bands are a wonderful thing to keep an engine from detonating itself to death.
