Is this a good deal? 2011 E90 328i M-Sport

I found a 2011 328i E90 sedan with the following packages/options. Odometer at 45,000 miles. It's from an independent dealership negotiated down to price of $23,500 (before tax and fees). Is this a fair price? The mileage is a bit higher than what I would have liked, but the packages and options are all there.

You have much better options, fair mileage too. For $23k I would pick it up. Mine was 4 yrs old when I bought, about the same mileage, I had none of your options and I paid the $25k after taxes/fees, etc.

I think it is a fair to good price. I bought my 2010 328xi almost exactly a year ago and I paid $24.3k before TTT. The only option you have that I don't is Msport (not sure about lighting package) I wish mine had Msport...but mine only had 22.5k miles when I bought it. I think the mileage is what making it a fair deal. You only have 5k miles left on the warranty, regardless of the time left. If it is exactly what you are looking for, I would get it...if you are compromising on the color or something else, I would continue to look. Just my 2 cents.

Horrible price.

I just got my 2010 328i black/black with 60k miles and 100k mile BMW gold warranty transferred to me for $16,500. It's in showroom condition not even a swirl mark in the paint. Probably in better condition than the car you're looking at and I bet it doesn't have the gold warranty.

Shop around.

Thank you everyone for your input. The only thing that worries me is the 45k mileage. It seems a bit on the higher end, and factory warranty will expire in 5k miles. Is it recommended to purchase extended warranty from BMW?

45k miles on a 2011 = 15k miles a year = 1250 miles a month = 300 miles a week = 45 miles a day.

That's not high miles.

For that insanity price the dealer is asking they should throw in an extended warranty til 100k for no charge or walk. Not "their" warranty either, but a quality 3rd party one.

Thank you Riick for your input. Did yours come with the same/similar packages listed above? It looks like you got a really good price!

I'm a bit confused. I ran a quick KBB appraisal, and it shows suggested retail of around $25.5k if purchasing from a dealer and $23k if purchasing from a private party. Based solely on KBB, this would suggest a decent purchase at $23,500. Am I missing something here?

Yes. The only price that matters on KBB is trade in value. That's what the car is worth. That's what insurance and finance companies go by.

I have yet to see this car in person. It's located 400 miles from me, so I am considering flying to check it out in person and having a PPI performed. If all goes well, would you guys consider it safe to pull the trigger? I've never owned a BMW before. Is there anything I should look out for in particular, or any future big normal maintenance I would have to perform anytime soon?

go to the dealer and ask for the cpo wrap, I forget what I got if it was gold or platinum, one extends the factory warranty to 7 years/100k miles, the other does the same thing except radio. I do not have the sound package so I got the lesser for additional $1000. Get the extended warranty, it is a hit or miss and mine did pay off after 3 years. And I regret buying the extended maintenance warranty, I drove so much in those years I didn't even get to reach the mileage and probably only used it twice for oil change.

I am like you, I never owned a bmw until this one but really get the extended factory warranty and you can ask other dealers, that one or across the county or across the state for a factory warranty, you might be better off talking to paul bailey at mckenna bmw I believe. He'll get you the car you want and price with warranty. He is highly recommended among the forum. No BS type of guy.

Google the True-Market Value for a solid reference as well.

Helped me numerous times!

I got my E90 328i xDrive last August for $29,600. Premium, cold weather, technology, convenience, navigation, hi-fi stereo (not the stock, but not the Harmon-Kardon), lighting, and since it didn't have folding rear seats, they threw in and installed a roof rack. Your price sounds good but not perfect. As another poster said, ask them to throw in the CPO wrap or a good third party 6/100k warranty at that price. 45,000 isn't all that high in terms of the motor - most modern engines, including the N51/52's, don't even really break themselves in until 50,000 miles or so. Even if they don't throw in the warranty themselves, pick it up from someone else - it may not work out in terms of dollars saved, but if you can get a good price, it will give you solid piece of mind.

Good luck!

Edit: my odometer when I picked her up was about 40,300.
