Been offered this as a part x - http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/2496850.htm
Still a bit too expensive to help me save max cash, but I am tempted....

Seems good value at under £6k, though it looks like its pre-facelift - the photos don't make it very clear, infact it look like they are trying to hide the fact.
Pre facelift should be worth less than post facelift cars with 170ps (change over was around July 2004 from memory), so make sure you're not comparing this to later cars.

Ahhh didn't realise there was a change in engine. Ours was a 2005 170 and awesome.
Yep, pics are not good..have asked for some more and shots of the interior.

Changover to the turbo engine from the supercharger was late 2006 / early 2007. The very earliest Minis were actually the best built and felt better, after that each facelift has cheapened the interior trim and feel.

The Supercharged Mini had a minor face lift and then was replaced by the bigger Turbo model. The Turbo models can be had for around £9k now. I prefer the supercharged one - but it's very thirsty compared to the Turbo model.

Turbo version are a much nicer drive as loads more torque, the Supercharger one needs its neck wrung a bit to get the performance.

I've had most flavours of mini (R53 pre facelift and post, R56 factory JCW) and other than an engine failure on the JCW they have been superb cars to own. That one doesn't look too bad value.
