Thumbs up First BMW opinion needed. 09 335i xdrive

My local BMW dealer just got a Blue water metallic on chestnut brown 335i. It's a 2009 in off lease return. Only has 45k on it (I'm Canadian).

It's got the logic 7 and executive packages on it. Very nice car, love the colour options. I haven't seen that blue around the city yet. I live in Winnipeg.

They are asking $29,000 which seems a bit steep to me based on the options. But the low miles are a definite bonus...

What do you think, any input would be much appreciated it'll be my first BMW.

I've heard these engines had a pretty notorious fuel pump problem, but also hear its since been regulated.

Thanks guys!

Just totalled my 2008 335xi coupe with pretty much all the packages on it. I had 130,000 km (Canada) on it and the ins company valued it at about $27,000.

The 2008 was just an insane ride. The XI is just crazy and you really feel the torque.

Heard they changed the twin turbo in 09 to a twin scroll turbo which is supposed to be better according to the dealer but I'm still trying to find out the truth.

Hope this helps a bit.

Turbo were changed in 2011, N55 engine is 2011+. 2009-2010 are still N54.

OP thats a good price and that color is great. I missed out getting that color thinking I wasn't going to like it but man do I love that color.

I don't consider 45k low miles. Can you afford the cost of repairs if there are engine issues?

Miles: No. Kilometers: Yes....

OP said he is from Canada, so it's kilometers, or approx 28000 miles, which is low for a 2009....

Ya the color looks great in the photos. I'm going to see it this afternoon and take it for a drive.

@Moarlow with that many KM's on it I'm thinking I'll be able to get a powertrain warranty on it for a decent dollar as the turbo would be covered under that. (also hear there was a n54 turbo issue to which there was a class action law suit in the US that was settled but doesn't cover CAN buyers). I could cover repairs if needed. Just prefer not to have to obviously...

Exclamation After test drive facts

Car drives like a dream.

Vehicle service history is good.

All servicing done at the BMW dealer. 2 oil changes in 44k KM.
Super charger was serviced under warranty (expected from what I hear about the n54)
High pressure fuel injector was replaced (also expected)

Other them that its clean. They are asking 29 which is a bit high I think. There is no oil cooler installed either...
What you guys think?

No I never ended up pulling the trigger. Old man driven, all city miles. Had some paint scraping on the drivers side. Ultimately I was of the opinion they wanted to much for it. They knew it would be an easy sale to someone so they weren't willing to budge.

When it came down to it the car wasn't in the ext color I wanted so I passed... Interior was a fucking dream though. So nice.

Yeah.. buddy of mine has SG with the chestnut interior... it's gorgeous. There is a 335i diesel an hour from me with my dream color combo: Montego Blue with Oyster interior... if I had the $, I'd be all over that!

If you're in Winterpeg.. why not cross border shop? ..or look east :-)

sorry, I didn't see your reply. I wouldn't go east for a car. South was and option but with the $ at .92 there isn't much point as the prices have narrowed between the US and here. Isn't much point.

I'll buy local. If I buy elsewhere it would be in BC likely. Give me a reason to go snowboarding.

I drive an '09 335i xdrive, almost fully loaded, just don't have M package but I have sport package for the seats. The car had 35k miles on it, I got it for 27k. Amazing ride, I love it. The engine is amazing, and the car is scary fast! I just did the Golf-tee mod myself to make the note a little louder. Mines also LCI so it has a nice facelift and LED turn signals.

Couldn't be happier with it.
