Well that was easy... M5 DCT Knob Install

I have a manual boot on the way so rather than build a full on harness I just bypassed the OEM indicator and repined the connector in the proper order. Works like a charm. M3 wheel, and MT boot on the way.

Awesome, although just crossed my mind, if you let some one borrow the car and theyre not familiar with the stock drive placements ( P-R-N-D-DS) youll have major problems. For example, theyll see R down then left that = M1! uh oh!

Valid Luckily I can't think of the last time I really LOOKED at a shift indicator and the cluster still reflects the p/r/n/d etc. I also try to avoid lots of people driving my car.

Looks awesome though!! Would try to do this if I was good with wiring lol. Do you mind if I borrow that pic to post up the ashtray/ cigarette light compartment so I can include it in a FS thread? Have it sitting around might as well sell it ..

I grabbed it off of eBay. $90 shipped if you dig around. The writeup is under the site as M5 knob retrofit.

If you don't want it to light up then yes. Buy and push on.

Borrow away! Wiring is all about the tools. Pin out tools, good strippers, good iron. It's not too bad

I'm sorry this is terrible. For one, the pattern is not remotely close. Two what did you do about the park release? Does the shifter just move back and forth freely without the lock? You may have well just slapped a 6 spd MT knob on it.

Hell I almost ran a MT knob if not for the blatant mis match.

So you actually look at your pattern on an AT?

Regarding safety it won't let the car jam into R while at speed. Not for everyone but I am enjoying it.

Regardless if you look at it or not, it just doesn't look right. Thats like putting a boost gauge in a car that has no turbo/supercharger cause it looks cool but not functional. I guess to each is own, just tacky to me. I know it will not move out of gear while at speed, I am fully aware on how a shifter operates, but there is no more release button, so it can be accidently hit while parked or something and popped into neutral etc. If you like it then fine thats all that matters.......

I don't know if I would go as far as to say this is like putting a boost gauge in a NA car . All lights work, shifter works, I'm happy .

Just waiting for the new boot to get here and then the real mods start!

Through reverse to neutral from park without your foot on the brake? Also it is functional, the proper indicators light up when gears are changed.
