thanks for the part numbers OP, will be doing this at some point.
the stock system is soooo bad..:O same as the e46, shocking for a high end german coupe. I went the BSW/rainbow route with some dyna-matting, made a big difference. Im hoping the tweeters, and maybe the door mids (with a bit of dyna matt) should give the most bang for buck, without getting too messy with wires for an aftermarket set up. |

I purchased a 3-way kit from audio system which had the woofers, door mids, and tweeters and the difference was amazing. |

Cheers Ali. Do you have a link for the system? how much did it set you back if you don't mind me asking? and how was the install? I'm comfortable diy ing most things, but what puts me off with audio installs is simply the amount of kit you need to remove to run wires to and from amps etc... plug n play is what i look for mostly from audio upgrade.. |

I DIY'd the installation myself, using the existing speaker wires in the doors. Just used 2 way tape to mount the crossovers, and purchased tweeter mount door sails from BMW. Installation on the door speakers was very straightforward since you just tap into the existing wiring. Installing the underseat woofers was also easy, but I bypassed the existing wiring to run new wires directly to my amp in the trunk. The crossover on my amp makes sure that only lower end frequencies are sent to those woofers. Hope that helps.

I have just fitted a Pioneer Appradio4 and a 12" sub and amp in the boot which I've had in a couple of other cars. Just need to sort the front speakers now which I will power off the head unit.
Has anyone installed any co-ax speakers in place of the front 4" mid speaker? |

I just though that maybe someone who had or has a Pre LCI E90 has done the mod and got the part No's, and no exactly what is needed! After all isn't that what a forum is supposed to be "Helping" each other?

If you go for Alpine retrofit kit, you only require window surrounds and I have listed the part numbers above. You never know that if used kit come up, you may get windows surrounds as well. So hold your guns.....

Not sure if I did something wrong but I looked on BMMINIPARTS before and types in the '012' part number and it didn't find anything.
I had also tried my vin and that came up with tweeters but with a different part number, anyone know if the part numbers have been superseded? I have E93 by the way (but as sam said above, tweeters are all the same, just different surrounds) |

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...65&fg=20&hl=21 You will have to request quote on their website as if they do not have a par in stock, it does not show up in standard search.

As for necessity - you could do without inserts, but not sure why you would given the simplicity of it |

Not sure what difference it makes, but sounded fine to me - the inserts may block out a little road noise. |
