How to remove a Forge Diverter Valve?
Has anyone ever removed their Forge diverter valve for maintenance? I'm just wondering how to get the valve off of the charge pipe? I tried rotating the threaded collar but it ends up just turning the valve along with it. I tried pulling on the valve but it is attached very securely.

With Forge the lock position is the OEM "unlock" position. So did you rotate the collar to the OEM "lock" position to free the valve?
Thanks.

Not true. Lock is locked on both DV types. Where did you get the information from ? When you look at the OEM DV's and the Forges they are constructed similar where they are connected to the charge pipe.

Ah okay thanks. Damn I think I got the instructions mixed up. I thought it said to turn the dial to the unlock position which would be the new lock position. I'm at the office now so I'll check again when I get home. But what you say makes perfect sense. I just need to get the valves off for some tweaking.

I just don't want to bust off the collar and end up with an undriveable car. The charge pipe costs almost $300 from Tischer...

I have to agree with OP, I was able to pull one of my DV's off but the one closest to the firewall would NOT budge!!! I stopped trying cause I didn't want to break the clip. I will eventually need to service mine also so knowing a trick to get that sucker off would be highly appreciated.
I moved the clip back and forth (counter and clockwise) and it would not budge out of the charge pipe. |

If I remember correctly, one of the grey locks opens counter-clockwise and the other clockwise. I'm not 100% sure, but I think I had an issue while installing the DV's. This would explain the situation. Please have a look and report back.

Forge Motorsports was very quick in replying:
The removal of our valves is very similar to how the OEM valves are removed, however, because of the slight changes made to the clip connectors on our valves in comparison to the OEM valve connectors, you will need to twist our valves a little bit more, while simultaneously pulling up on them in order to remove them. If you have any more trouble, please give me a call and I'll try to walk you through it. ----------------------------------------- It sounds like it's do-able!

I was searching for some information on people having issues removing their Forge DVs and I thought I would add to it after I figured it out even though its and old thread. Hopefully it will help someone else in the future.
I had the same problem with my forge DV's. I was having a small boost leak and discovered that my front DV was not sealing. The connection from the DV to the charge pipe is actually screwed into the DV itself and worked its way loose. So when I released the grey clip, the DV connection into the charge pipe was locked in and would not free itself. I actually had to twist the DV clockwise until it was able to turn the piece that was in the change pipe and it came out. I then had to apply lock tight to the DV piece that goes into the charge pipe back onto the DV so that it would seal properly. You cannot wrench tighten this piece back on as it will cause the notches that lock into the charge pipe to be misaligned. |
