Wrapping my interior trim with vinyl
I never had the luxury of picking the interior colors/trim on my '07 335i since I bought it pre-owned. If it were up to me, I would have gotten saddle brown or black. But anyway...I've grown very tired of the wood trim in my interior, so I decided to try wrapping the pieces with black 3M Scotchprint Carbon Fiber vinyl.
I purchased a roll on Amazon for ~$25. Tools used: flathead screwdriver scissors hair dryer Here's what it looked like before - black on gray with brown wood grain?? ...and here's how it looks now after wrapping the dash pieces. I have to say I'm very happy with the way it turned out! I'm still working on the remaining pieces, so I'll post as I finish them.

It's really not that hard, just takes some heating and stretching to get it right. I spent more time being careful not to damage any of the electrical connectors / trim pieces when removing the trim than the actual wrapping.

Did you just wrap the upper trim? Because 5'x1' will not cover every trim piece.

You're correct. I had to order another 60" x 24" roll in order to keep the same thread pattern on the center console that's on the dash. Plus, it'll be nice to have some extra lying around. My new roll should be in tomorrow, so I'll post pics of the rest of the car when I'm done.

Very nice job. I tried the same 3M stuff on the rear diffuser and couldn't get the corners right, kept peeling back or shrinking back.

You can also try 3M Primer 94 but that is tricky to use correctly. |

Using a high quality CF vinyl wrap and some heat is the way to tackle tricky curves/corners.
I would also recommend using a felt tip squeegee when applying the vinyl. |

I received my second roll of vinyl, so I finally got around to wrapping some more pieces. I'm really happy with the "new look." It changes to whole feel of the interior, and I personally think it suits the car better.

Yes, absolutely. Look at the difference it made in my car. I used the 3M Scotchprint CF, very happy with the look and feel.

Di-Noc CF has more of a dry carbon fiber look and where the 1080 CF has a more of a "wet" look. The 1080 (Scotch Print) is also slightly (very very very slightly) thinner. I've been playing with samples for a while.... my coffee cup is wrapped in them
My guys are in the process of getting several 1080 vinyls on our site now. We currently have some of the Di-Noc up, I love that stuff, my interior is a bit over kill wrapped in it |

Funny you say that...I was looking around the house earlier for things I could wrap with my spare vinyl...computer monitor, xbox, etc.

Eric, I sent you a PM
I had my desk phone wrapped.... but someone liked it a little too much as I'm back to a boring non cf desk phone. If you're reallllllllly bored try to wrap a solo up, not as easy as you would think. |

Hey, I am trying to wrap my trim with the same vinyl. I have used Dy-noc before but struggled. I am also having problems with this kind. Do you have any pointers as to how to prevent wrinkles? Did you use any prep solution, what exactly are your methods? Any way you took any pics or videos doing this? Thanks!
