Battery sparks

Disconnected the -ve terminal in the boot before I replaced my SE wheel with the Msport one. On reconnecting the battery (-ve terminal) I got some sparking and little pops - poo'd myself!!!

Anyway, I got an airbag/seatbelt error which not cannot be reset, it appears the airbag or a connection is now faulty.

What did I do wrong? Anything? Nothing?

Should the -ve battery terminal spark? Could that be the cause?

Why did you disconnect the battery before replacing the wheels?

I think he means steering wheel Ian

It can be reset with a snap on scanner mate get it to an Indy, although didn't you have an issue with the airbag light before hand when you mentioned about the car needing a service on AUC?

Been to an Indy, there's some fault now with the airbag which is why it can't be reset - that's kinda what I'm asking.

Would the battery sparking have anything to do with the airbag now being faulty???

When you reconnected the wiring behind the airbag - did you use your old airbag or did yo buy a new one?

is everything connected securly as the green and black connectors behind the airbag need to clip in securly?

mistryn: he replaced his old SE steering wheel with a m-sport one. so he changed the airbag too...

V: in my opinion No. sometimes when u reconnect the negative pole of the battery u may have an instant light spark, no big deal.

Ok to clarify,
New steering wheel, same airbag. All
Connections double checked prior to doing the final fitting.
Reconnected battery, sparked a little (blue) start car and then get airbag and seatbelt light (bugger!)
Indy checked and said the airbay is knackered.

Get them to tell you the exact fault codes. Its very very rare for an airbag unit to fail even rarer after only swapping it.Did you spin the or crush the SZL rotary switch while the steering wheel was off?
