My other question is whether there is a way to get english all the way through INPA. As of now, the first couple tiers of menus are in english, but then switch to German. I assume the OP has the same issue since his injector screen was all in German as well. Last edited by Zasquatch; 01-25-2012 at 07:17 AM.. |

Since INPA is/was a factory tool, German was the primary language for all the INPA scripts. DIS v57 should be able to handle diagnostics even if your car has been updated by ISTA. |

This weekend looks promising to get this done. I've been super busy at work last week and on top of that I had a birthday...
I have a few things to iron out, and I think I can package the whole thing into a VMWare virtual machine for everyone to enjoy...

Thank you if you can do it! I have been at this for a couple of days with no success. I am going out today to get a new netbook

That's the whole point of the VMWare Virtual Machine I am trying to set up. It will work on any OS and any hardware for as long as you can run VMWare...

Bad news: the VMWare machine crashes when initializing the drivers for the USB D-CAN dongle. Most probably, I'll just package the apps, write the DIY and be done with it.
On the positive side: I think I've found a way to translate the MSD80 INPA file from German to English. That would be of insane help for everyone as there are a lot of other things you can do with it besides injector coding. Vasil

Vasil,
Thanks for all the work your doing on this and providing the info for us! I'm really looking forward your DYI, because I just ordered a new injector to replace one that keeps giving me a misfire code occasionally. And then I have to shut down the car and re-start it in order for it to run smooth again. So it would be great if I could replace it and code it myself... But, if for some reason I can't code the injector... I see that your in the Chicago area?? Hint Hint

Just replace the injector and send me a PM. I can help you code the injectors no problem.

Once the injector shows up, I'll find the time to replace it and send you a PM before I do... Unless your DYI comes out before then and I get ambitious to try it. lol

It won't work. You need 32-bit. Head over to the coding section and read the DIY. The software package you can get there includes INPA... what more do you need?

No big deal. Needed a laptop anyway. Thanks for your concern. I read on the other forum it works with a 64 bit also.

This is directly quoted from the other forum from Dzenno
"INPA works on Windows 7 64-bit without issues on my machine. I even run it on a Mac where windows 7 64-bit is in a virtual machine. What you have to do is to right click on the installer and hit "Troubleshoot Compatibility", then go "Try Recommended Settings" (to let windows run it in proper compatibility mode), then hit "Start the Program" and it'll start it in Windows XP Service Pack 2 compatibility mode. You'll need to do this for each of the 3 INPA setup files provided in the download." Is he lying? Thats the problem, there is too much info going around and those that know what to do say refer to that thread, but in reality its not the easiest program to get up and running...I am sorry there are noobs like myself trying to get it working but its also very disappointing that people who already are familiar with it basically give no efforts to others to get it working, besides refer to the thread!.. |

In my 3 years of coding experience with this platform, I have not figured out a way to get everything to work properly on an x64 platform. If dzenno, of all people, has figured out a way... then, great. To avoid headaches, however, I still recommend using a 32-bit version of Windows. You can even run it inside a virtual machine if you don't want to reformat your laptop. Another good option is downloading Windows XP Mode from Microsoft. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions beyond what's already covered on the forums and I'll be happy to help as I did with Vasil. |
