Ski/Snowboard event pre-planning. Thoughts?
Hey everyone.
As some of you may know, I work part-time sales at Best Western in Big Bear. I see the Harley Davidson and Mercedes-Benz meets happening here once every one or two months, and I figured I'd start planning out something for the BMW crowd. I've been pitching this idea to the events planner at the hotel and the hotel owners and I got approval on the initial plan. Since the plan is still in it's infant stages, I can't offer any solid details yet. I'm simply putting this online to judge potential interest, and see what days and times work best for people with a plan like this. So, I've been planning to give people who want to go skiing or snowboarding a package deal. We'd meet up in the Best Western parking lot in the morning, and I'd get a section of it cordoned off for E90/M3post members, for your parking. (Feel free to bring your 4wd cars, this is just a get together.) We'd then go right across the street for ski/snowboard rentals, and then take the shuttle bus that also runs right across the street up to the ski resort. It's very close. After having fun in the snow, we'd take the shuttle bus back down, and eat dinner in the conference room. I will be securing the buffet/rotisserie for this. If anyone would like to relax in the hotel's hot tub after a day of skiing/snowboarding, that would also be open and made available for members, so bring your swimming trunks if you're interested in soaking in a warm tub after a cold ski/snowboard session. I'd be planning out three package deals, one for people who have their own gear and just want cheaper lift tickets, one for people who need cheaper rental ski/snowboards and cheaper lift tickets, and one for people who have season lift tickets, and just want to take advantage of the food and hot tub. The day that this event will take place, or even how many times it will take place (I'm thinking realistically once this winter though.) is still up in the air. I just wanted to post up my initial ideas, and see what month/days/times people would be interested in. I know that nearly all of the members on the board work, and I just wanted to see what day would be best to get a whole lot of people in, so that a lot of people could have fun and unwind from daily life for a day. Let me know what you guys think. My flame suit is prepped and ready... Last edited by LateBraking; 10-01-2009 at 11:48 AM.. |

I didn't even bother reading the thread... I just saw the authors name and knew it was gonna be rubbish! Then he (or she ) said they had their flame suit ready... well at least they know... lol.
But really Brian... I will be down to go up to Big Bear. And BTW... I skinny dip in the snow, so no need for me to bring trunks... lol jk I'll bring them

You can probably get some lessons from the bunch of people coming. If you want official lessons, and enough people want them, I can try and see if I can get a group lesson reservation.
But really, just get free lessons from someone going, lol. |

really nice idea, I would be down for this... Only thing worrying me is driving my car up there. had a really bad experience a couple of seasons ago after a day of boarding and then ended up getting stranded for about 10 hours while slipping and sliding on ice in my g35. and yes I had chains haha.

great idea but our local mountains are ideal conditions by the current weather ONLY. hard to plan a trip so far ahead without knowing the conditions. no fun riding in a couple of foot of man made packed ice and crowded slopes. if you want to just party, it doesn't matter!
MAMMOTH is a better idea. just my .02. |

Sounds fun! I'm always at big bear during snowboard season anyways but I'm a little worried about taking my car up there while it's snowing. Never took a RWD up there through snow before

Mammoth might be nice, except that I don't work there.... Oh, and feel free to not drive your Bimmer up there. I'm reserving parking for Bimmerpost *members*, not the cars themselves, haha. Last edited by LateBraking; 10-01-2009 at 10:23 AM.. |
