DB Schenker
Hi guys,
Im planning to get some items from the US. the vendor had a flat rate w/ the DB Schenker to ship items over to Canada where the shipping will cost twice if ship by the USPS. Im not that familiar w/ this shipping company... has anyone being dealing w/ them before? will I get charged for some unreasonable fees/taxes/duties after receiving the items? thanks in advance guys! |

They're great if you can spare the time to clear customs yourself and save on brokerage. Ordered wheels and tires from wheeldude on a Wednesday and picked them up from the airport on Monday.

A few vendors use DB Schenker(Bax Global). I had 2 shipments(akrapovic and vorsteiner trunk) from DB Schenker(Bax Global) from Germany and the States. I definitely like them more than UPS, Fedex, etc. My experience with them is that, there is more paper work involved. They will contact you when your package arrives, email/fax you some authorization paper. Once that's done, they will email/fax you some more billing paper for brokerage/tax applicable. Finally, once those process through, it will be released and to you in a matter of a few days. Each of the truck drivers are responsible for the cost of their truck, and they aren't too happy if they have to come back the second time. Arrange for delivery time if you aren't sure when you will be home. You can also arrange for pick up at the airport to clear your own items.
As far as their charges go, it's going to be the same as anyone else for taxes; declared value by tax rate. Brokerage I thought it was just average, charged $2XX for 2 huge boxes of exhaust. And I don't remember what I was charged for my trunk. They aren't cheap, but they are less likely to give you a ripped box with your goods all f'd up.

Well, for the average consumer..the broker is going to be either you or them. They don't overcharge like UPS, but I still wouldn't say it won't put a small dent in your wallet. They also do base it on item size in my experience.

ordered some rims from **********s, they used DB Schenker. They called when wheels came in and gave me the option of using a broker or picking them up myselfe and clearing them. They suggested i clear them myselfe. I picked up the customs forms and paid $45.00 to clear my rims, and that was it. And the day before i got some black out grills form turner for $110.00 and paid UPS $55.00 for brokerage. DB Schenker gets a big thumbs up from me.
