driving license help!! 12 points but over more than 3 years
Hi All,
The internets isn't proving all powerful at answering my question so I'm asking you chaps for help. My mum has gone and accepted a NIP for 6 points for slightly running a light at 4am on a deserted road (yes shes still in the wrong...I know). She already had 6 points so I'm thinking automatic ban is in order. Turns out the 12 points have to be in a 3 yr period for an auto ban. Her first 3 points where 02/01/10 next 3 in 01/06/10 and the 6 points 23/01/13. So she will have 12 points but over more than a 3 yr period. So, whay happens in that case? auto court appearance? the fact she had the option of a NIP makes me say no but they may have processed it wrong and send a summons through. As long as she aint banned from driving thats all that matters. she can suffer the extra cost and driving whilst speedo watching like some of us have been through. Thanks for your help, |

Points are only valid for three yrs, but stay on your licence for four.
So if I've got this correct, your Mum would only have had 3 VALID points at the date of the offence, so a ban will not be a given. I'd expect she'll receive a Paypal request for some readies on behalf of 'HMWSYA'. (Her Majesty's we skin you alive) 6 Pts for running a red light! Seems incredibly harsh, have they toughened up? I only got 5pts for 104 on the M3, mind you it was a good few yrs back, I now feel cheated! It's a shame your Mum didn't have a word with Vicki Pryce when she got the NIP,Vicky collects points like she was in Tesco. Good luck to your Mum,have you suggested Specsavers,or perhaps a colour blindness test

Thanks for the prompt advice. I've voiced your advice word for word to said mother which she found quite humerous considering.
If anyone lives in the Rotherham area and drives in the early hours of the morning, you've been warned, one slightly dithery female driver might hog the middle lane/speed/run a red light infront of u....... |

That can't be the full story, three points max for that in my opinion. How long was the light red for? What speed? What are her previous points for?
