I read that the Tach needle is completely simulated because it wouldn't react quickly enough to how fast the car revs.

That is very impressive, one seriously quick revving engine that when you consider the number of cylinders and the capacity.

Now I'm getting impressed.

P.S.
The display is pretty cool too.

Wow. That rivals the other "coolest gauge cluster in the world" found in the Reventon.

You all think this is cool? Seriously? It makes my eyes bleed. I loathe the new trend of making instrument clusters as flashy as possible- the end result is always the same. Form before function, and gauges that are impossibly distracting and annoying to decipher. I'm glad BMW is resisting that trend, for now anyway.

What's so horrible? It turns red to tell you to shift,, tach is in the center like I think it should be, it happens to move back and forth between functions. It is the future! What aspect of the gauges are not functional? With 10 years put in the car, I'm sure it was well thought out before production.

The video is just a demo of the gauge cluster and isn't connected to a real car.

Don't rely on something like that to give you any meaningful info on how quick it can rev, how quick it can do 0-60, etc. It could be replaying data captured from a real run of the car or it could simply be a small demo some engineer randomly generated out of thin air.

I doubt it. Every car magazine that has tested it has always made references to the rev happy motor that can reach redline in 0.6 seconds. Seems fairly accurate if you ask me. Man, I feel like a fanboy replying to everyone.
