theres a way to do it with CT thatll save you insurance money, get rid of your points, and not require a front plate/no tint

i was told that the points stay with you in that state. so eventhough you switch over you still have ten points in new jersey. which also means you still have to be careful driving in nj

Hate to burst your bubble, but they look at your previous record, so your insurance will probably be thru the roof. Get yourself a good traffic lawyer and try to get it cut down w/ some saftey classes or whatever they're called

jersey cops will fuck with you non-stop though. NY doesn't take jersey points though. so you'll get a bunch more speeding, etc tickets in NJ, but as long as you just pay the fine you'll be set.

I think he's better off watching his speed. But he'll prob be more likely to be pulled over with the ny plates.

Im pretty sure points transfer over especially Tristate... why dont you take a defensive driving course, you can reduce something like 5 points and you save some money on your auto insurance.

It'll probably transfer over. If it didn't, I probably would've done this ages ago.
I'm basically in the same situation as you. The best thing to do at this point is just take a defensive driver course. A course will only reduce 2 points, but it's better than nothing. I took an online one. Sit through the powerpoint presentation, read it so that it totals to 6 hours, then take the exam. The beauty is that you can schedule it on your own time. No need to go through a class for 6 hours (although some classes can reduce up to 3 points). A defensive driving course can be taken once every 5 years. Next step? Be violation free for a year. The DMV will drop 3 points if you dont gain any points since the last violation you received. Each subsequent year will reduce another 3 points. Good luck!

sometimes they transfer over and sometimes they do not
different states vary i believe youd have to ask a lawyer, dont let what people on the internet say dictate what you do lol |

In NY you can take the defensive driving class every 3 years. It takes either 3 points off your license or 10% off your insurance. Not both, you pick which one you want.
