Question Suspension shop in GTA! WTB H&R, Eibach or stock non-xi model Springs!

Hi guys,

I'm a proud Torontonian who is living in Markham, with my matte white E92 335xi.
I have to admit that winter here is horrible, all the snow and salt is killing every single car on the road..
Due to the snow, I need an AWD car, even though E92 suppose to be a fantastic RWD car.
As we all know, E92 AWD version is higher than RWD version.
So..I'm thinking drop my car by 1-2 inches to get rid of that ridiculous fender gap on the front (about 3-4 inches gap..)

Anyway, here is my questions, thank you very much for helping me out, my great Toronto fellows.
1. Have anyone here dropped their E92? How is it in the winter? Any troubles?
2. Does anyone have H&R 50494-2 spring set, Eibach 2092.140 spring set or Stock non-xi model springs for sale? Doesn't matter new or used.
3. Does anyone know any suspension shops which can do the springs changing with a reasonable price? (I asked one shop for a quote, they said E92 needs a lot of work, which might cost me $700-800 for changing four springs, is it reasonable?)
4. Can I just lower the front by changing the springs of two fronts? Will the car be unbalanced? (the front seems much lower than the back..)

Thanks a lot!!Respect to all E92 owners!!

Lmaoo walk away. 700-800 for springs + install isnover priced
If your on a budget I would suggest st coila or bc racing. Install for coila is usually about 250-350 including alignment. I there are a few reputable shops up in your area.

Read this before you rush out and slap on H&R springs: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=857285 and this: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...light=bilstein. Those are the best threads that I found about XI springs.

I was always planning to either put on H&R or Eibach springs, but after reading that first thread, I'm now thinking of using OEM non-XI springs. I have H&R on my E36 and they are pretty harsh, which is the general consensus out there.

One advantage of keeping the tall XI ride height is that you can run 15mm spacers all around on stock rims for a flush look. I do that and the look is kind of growing on me.

Thanks a lot for the useful info!!!
I'm thinking use four stock non-xi springs now..
However, is it low enough? I mean, if I put on four OEM sport springs, how many inches will the car be lowered? Do you have any pictures of this?(xi lowered on stock non-xi springs)
I found a local deal of four used springs which are from a 07 E92 335i.
Those are OEM sport springs, for $200.
Can I use that for my xi? Is it a reasonable price?

Thank you!

I don't think using OE non-XI sport springs will give you a slammed look; it simply brings it back to a non-XI look (i.e. not the jacked up XI look). $200 is a bit on the high side; $150'ish seems to be the typical asking price. I picked up a set for $100, but that was quite a deal IMO. Probably won't install them for another year (waiting for the OE shocks to wear out). For a 335xi, I think you need a minimum D7 spring for the front (the number is printed on the spring), and D4 or D3 for the rear. The higher numbers are preferable because they indicate higher load capacity, which is needed for the heavy XI vehicle.

Thanks for the detailed explanation..
So, if I'm going to get a set from non-xi sport model, what number should it be? is it D4 for the front and D3 for the back? Where should I get the D7 springs though.. Because I need D7 for the front and D4 for the back, they are different numbers, it might be hard to get a set.

Springs don't come as a matching set (e.g. where all 4 springs are D7). A typical complete set might be D7 for the front and D4 for the rear. It all depends on what options the car is equipped with from the factory (e.g. automatic tranny, rim size, etc...)

That's nice.
So which means I can get a set of springs from non-xi sport model with D7 front and D4 rear, right?
All I need to do is just asking for those numbers before I buy then.

By the way, I'm good with non-xi model's height.
I need my car everyday including winter so too much slammed might cause problems..

Thank you dbworld for the great info
Anyway, do you know how much they gonna charge approximately for changing four springs? Is it a lot of work?

No idea. It's not that much work, I doubt it's $700 like the other shop quoted you. Give them a call, they can also answer all your suspension options for you (springs, shocks, etc).
