Should there be a private section?

As per title. I was on my computer browsing the forum and realised (again) that any joe blow can view everything on here without having to log in.

Works on other forums so I would say yes. Also, a minimum post count for classifieds would be good.

You look at some of the threads and info people have shared, it's a but much for it to be available without logging in imo.

We do that on a forum i own.

Some public forums but lots of private ones. Especially when talking about what kit/gear we have etc

When too much activity happens behind closed doors, new potential members aren't impressed enough to join from what they can see.

Joining a forum is different to doing a google search imo. By that I mean, people would be put off trying to look at a page if they had to join.

This forum is quiet anyway, I don't mean make everything private, just a section.

Maybe just having the option. There's been some threads I've gone to create but decided against due to the forum being so open. Same with replying to posts.

its up to the user not to be plastering their address, contact information, date of birth, national insurnace number, blood type etc....
