It's BMW's way of selling more window motor and regulators.

Yup. You'd think after 6 six years of ownership I'd have this down, but at least once a week, I open the drivers side rear instead of my own window. Hope they fixed this for the F30.

same here. I always hit the back window instead of mine. And the control for the passengers seat is messed up too... you have to twist your arm to hit the window switch.
I loved it on the e36 & e46. you could leave your left arm on the wheel... I'm also wondering if they fixed this issue on the f30? |

I find the back window switches frequently too. Apparently BMW agreed they were too far away and repositioned them (on the sedan, at least) as part of the 2009 refresh.

Same problem here. They are way too far forward and forget about the mirror controls.

BMW had them on the the center console for many years and never explained why they were moved to the armrests sometime around 2006. Tom |

It's not like not being able to reach the front switches. It's just not where your arm naturally falls. |

Aye... +2
It was actually my biggest annoyance going from an E46 to E90. After getting used to the window controls being in the center console, I really started to like it. They stuck them back on the door AND made sure to put them out of reach!

It's not a huge issue for me as I am not as tall as most of you boys (5'9") so my seat isn't as far back, although I do have a problem with it occasionally.
But it took me forever to get used to the position of the side mirror adjustments and fold button location. It's waaaay up there at the front and I'm constantly fiddling around with everything before I finally get to the button I'm looking for. I also greatly dislike the position of the central door lock button. That just makes zero sense to me.
