HPF 135i/335i Oil Catch tank
HPF 135i and 335i Oil Catch Tank
There is very little room in the BMW engine compartment to fit an oil catch tank and we've dialed in the perfect spot whether you have a supercharger, turbocharger or are normally aspirated. A unique feature of the HPF oil catch tank for the 135/335 applications is the easy snap on installation of the hose fittings. There is no cutting or modification required to any factory hose to achieve perfect fitment. The HorsepowerFreaks oil catch tank "kit" is a great way to keep oil blow-by from lowering the octane rating of your fuel. The crank case pressure on boosted and even non-boosted motors will often exceed ambient air pressure outside the engine. This causes the oil vapors to leave the engine and enter the combustion chamber. These oil vapors can lower octane ratings by as much as 2 points. The plug-n-play oil catch tank by HorsepowerFreaks uses large 10AN fittings along with high temp oil resistant hoses to allow this pressure to quickly and easily flow out of the engine without restriction. The oil vapor hits the densely packed coil area inside the catch tank where the oil is separated from the air allowing the air to be burned safely by the engine and allowing the oil to accumulate so that it can be easily re-used. This oil catch tank is located in a safe place away from heat using the mounting bracket provided. The main oil catch tank simply twists off by hand just like an oil filter and allows you to safely pour the oil back into the engine. Kit Includes:
Easy Snap-in Installation

As always, your product looks well engineered and fabricated.
BUT.. 500 dollars for an oil catch can?!?

Does this actually work?
It seems to me that the past complaints about the oil catch cans is that they are too close to the hot parts of the engine, and therefore the blow-by does not get cooled and condense in the catch can. Your placement is right next to the hottest part of the engine bay; near the turbos. |

Did you guys even try to test this thing?!?! We've already concluded through dzenno's test data that 5/8" lines do cause a restriction and increase crankcase pressure, not relieve it! Also, you guys are idiots for the placement. It's already a small occ and you went and put it in the hottest part of the engine bay. I bet it doesn't catch an oz. of oil. With the 17 page thread specifically about crankcase pressures and the effect of OCC's on them, you guys are morons for making this product and not providing mounds of test data to show it works and isn't harmful.

Another total BS catch can...please stop marketing these to the n54 community without ANY crankcase pressure data...and look at the PCV thread and data on crankcase pressures on high boost n54 engines...
I wouldn't mind paying a premium for an OCC provided you have adequate data and can show thar you've actually done flow testing before/after with this can with DATA... If you don't have any data then maybe you could use some blowby pics off VW/Audi engines like some other vendors  I respect HPF for their e46 work but man these OCCs I'm really sensitive about, little too sensitive LOL |
