Quick Review BMS 1.2 beta!
First off I would like to thank T for letting me testing!
BMS 1.2 beta consist of 15 maps! 8 maps for User and 7 maps for Diagnostic. Map tested today. Map 5 - Hotter 1.1 - Higher than 93 oct or downpipes/intake suggested Map 6 - Hotter 1.1 w/ lagfix 2.0 My mods: Pre 29.2 Jb3 1.2 customer version RR Dp Britalman full catless exhaust BMS dual intake Code 3 Fmic Kosei K1 Install was very easy simple as set it and forget it! Map 5 and 6 >Testing was done on 91 oct and with no codes!!! My daily driving just made my car faster and fun to get to work! Got to love the gas pedal switch mode so easy to use. On 91 oct feels very strong rips through redline. Big difference on the low end torque compare to 1.1v. Cant want to test it on race gas. Also cant wait to Dyno! Out of the 8 user maps I proly use 2. Map 6 for my daily driving Map 7 Race - for drag nights Map 0 Stock/Valet - when my GF borrows it J Last edited by Sneeze; 11-29-2008 at 01:17 AM.. |

Nice review bro.... i should have my 1.2 test chip here on the east coast in a few days. I can't wait for the Gas Pedal map switching and for Map 5 (Hotter 1.1 - Higher than 93 oct or downpipes/intake suggested) & Map 6 (Hotter 1.1 w/ lagfix 2.0). Once i get some 100+, Map 7 (Race map)

I dont know how anyone can say this was a great review... the product might be great but not the review.
Can you give more specifics? How does the gas pedal thing work? How do you know which map you've selected? Is the 1.2 update a new chip? If so then I guess everyone would have to remove the cabin filter, cowl etc and get to the JB3 then switch out the chips... Has anyone dyno'd this 1.2 update? Any word of how much more hp/torq is added from 1.1? |

I'm pretty sure he stated it was a nice review which I'd agree to be true. The 1.2 update is a new chip so yes that does mean removing the necessary things to get to the ecu but I'm pretty sure for most of us that takes no more than five minutes. The 1.2 update is basically to give a little more to the tune down low and also to allow a little more flexibility with the gas pedal map switching. I don't know the specifics on how this works however it is a quick on the go thing and switching between performance maps only takes a few solid pulls!

Thank you for your answer. I still have one unanswered question.... How does the gas pedal map switching work? How does one know which map they selected and whether or not it was selected or not? |

In all reality, most people will drive around on their favorite map. If you are stopping to race someone, by the time you talk to him, or get some racing fuel, you will have plenty of time to stop the engine. Same with giving the car to a valet, you will have the opportunity to turn the engine off for 5 seconds, LOL.

Quick question about the three position switch vs the pedal...
So, what happens if you, for example, use the pedal with the switch in the middle possition to set it to map 5. Then you flip the switch to the red dot position, then BACK to the middle position...does that "reset" the middle position to map 3, or does it remember that the middle position was at map 5, and it goes back to that map? Last, I wonder if there would be any way to incorporate any sort of light-flashing to CONFIRM what # map has been chosen? |

I don't know what is homelink, but tuned 335i can well be driven without a rear view mirror . Nobody will pass you. But if the gas pedal is stolen, you don't need map switching...

"With the engine off, press and hold the gas pedal down for 3 seconds. This triggers the JB3 to go into map switch mode. Then simply press the gas pedal down one time for map 1, two times for map 2, three times for map 3, etc. Start the car and off you go! The selection stays until you change it again." you know which map you are on the same way as you know with your piggyback. Procede you hit a button.... JB3 you press the gas pedal. Here's an updated map list that comes with 1.2: Quote:

That would suck... how are you going to explain to the guy that wants to race "hold on I need to change maps" and there you are pumping the accelerator 7 times hoping you didnt select the wrong map because you didnt press the accelerator all the way down. Its a cool idea but if you have to turn off/on the car for the new map to be loaded just kills it IMO. |
