What's wrong with a Chamois

Hey why is no one using the good old Chamois? I used it on my e46 for years without scratching but I see you all seem to be using the WW towel. Has there been some technology change that has left my old Chamois in the dust?

I have it and still hand dry a bit but it does make the process easier. Of course sometimes I just hot foot it around the neighborhood to get most of the water off too.

i went from ol skool chamois to absorber to mf waffle weave towel. been using mf waffle weave towel for a few years now and never looked back.

chamois & absorber = must wring the towel many many times.

mf waffle weave towel = wring it once, usually when i'm almost done wiping.

So after you blow the water away you still have to touch the car with some kind of cloth in order to clean it perfectly,... right?,.... Are these towels good for that???,... I usually use the absorber and then I use two Meguiar's MF towels one for each side of the car with Meguiar's Quick Detailer to get a better finish. What other recommendations do you guys suggest???

You can try the WW towel in the kitchen section at Walmart. They are the "Delux WW", I forget the brand but they come two white towels for about $3. I have the Meguiars also and like the WM ones better.

If you're going to order online, you might as well go to www.pakshak.com and pick up some from there.

At 2/$3 it's worth checking out. You can use them for door jambs, engine bay and wheels like I do (though I also use them on the paint). Here's a thread I found:

i used the one from autozone, worked great, but i cant tell if it worked great because it was the waffle weave, or because it was literally 20x bigger than the towels i normally use!

anyway it was nice, normally i had to dry half the roof, wring and redry, glad i have something that can do half the car without needing to be wringed, i think i wronged it a total of 3 times

agree. pick up a big waffle weave towel.

also, a helpful drying hint it to sheet the water off the car first. after you are done spraying down your car, remove the nozzle from your hose. run a steady stream of water over your car (i start with the roof first, 2nd windshield and hood, 3rd back window and trunk, 4th & 5th side windows and sides of the car), and you should see a good amount of water sheet off if you have decent wax/sealant on your paint. then dry as usual with the waffle weave towel (i start with the roof, 2nd all windows, 3rd hood and trunk, and then the rest of the body).

yes i have them. the bright yellow ones right?
yes they are amazing. i would suggest either throwing them in the washer or shaking them off a little bit before you use them on your car to get the yellow fuzzy particles off the towel.
