anyone here fight a speeding ticket?

got pulled over by a state trooper on Hwy 99 in Lynnwood. I was going uphill from a dead stop trying to pass someone on my right. Saw a state trooper coming from the opposite direction so I slowed down. Right as he got about 10 feet in front of me, my escort goes crazy. He lights up and makes a U turn after me. Now I am thinking to myself, I hella made sure I slowed down long before my radar went off. So before I can ask him to show me radar, he threatens to put me and my wife in handcuffs because I gave him probable cause to search my car for illegal contraband. DOUBLE YOU TEE EFF!. Just because I turned my screaming radar detector off (before I even pulled over) So I shut my mouth and said nothing until he came back with the ticket (60 in a 45mph). Just to give you an idea, it was daytime and me and the wifey were in our Sunday best. Definitely not giving the impression we were hoodlums or anything.

I've never used him, but guys on other BMW forums swear by this guy:
Jag Matto 253-332-4879.

Good luck. Sounds like the cop was having a hard day and took it out on you....

I recommend my lawyer to anybody who got speeding ticket. Never let me or any of my referals down. NEVER! Tell David sent you and he will take care of your ticket.

I used http://speedinginseattle.com/index.html earlier this year. The ticket was dismissed. I didn't even have to go to court.

if you hire lawyer, they typically take care of it themselves...

Great reputation.
His rate is about $250.00. He goes to court for you. you don't have to be present. I heard he has 80% success rate. He somehow got me off when I got lasered @ 77mph going north passing the bus structure on I-5 lynnwood when he was facing the other way(north) on the ramp! .....sneeky bitches!!

The ticket was $101.00 so ....I paid a $150.00 more without going to court.

Good luck!

ive used Mitch Greene and Tim Coogan, Mitch is a much better Lawyer, dresses classier and has a ton of rapport with the judges. Mitch got mine dismissed in kent doing 105 in a 60. Tim got my ticket dismissed ONLY after I pointed out the WRONG DATE!! Before my hearing Tim explained to me that he does not think He could get mine off, I explained the date and we won. Worthless lawyer in my opinion. Although Tim has a money back guarantee, if he doesnt win you keep your 250.

Good to know. What's Greene's fee. Can you PM me his info for reference? Hopefully I won't have to use either of them. LOL!

It's the same link I posted above. http://www.speedinginseattle.com/

Forgot to add, Greene was recommended by a cop I met at a vette gathering.

Some good references here.

Asking to see an LEO's SMD does nothing; they aren't required to show it to you.

I'd heard a couple positive referrals for Mitch at work recently. I've used Jeannie Mucklestone in the past with so-so results - the first time was a dismissal. The second time I called a year later and her rates had gone up like $100 and in the end she didn't get my 10 mph speeding ticket dismissed. I'm going to try Mitch next time.

so basically I have to fork up more money than the ticket is worth. I mean I guess I could pay the extra $100 but anyone fight the ticket themselves?

Yeah, but that doesn't include the value of the savings on insurance premiums...

Yup, it will result in a rate increase for 3 years. If you get another speeding ticket or two on your record during that period, your rates will go up substantially. It might cost more to fight it with a lawyer in the short term, but it's the safer bet in the long term.

Personally, I'd rather give my money to a lawyer than a traffic court anyways...

Rates climbing based on speeding tickets really depends on the company and policy you have for insurance. I'm with Allstate Insurance Company (13 years plus), which is different than what you'd be able to get today (Allstate Fire and Casualty Insurance Company.) My agent tells me that I could save money by switching, but the drawbacks would be:

1.) If I switch, I can never go back to the old policy (company is not writing any more new customer policies.)

2.) Driving records are reviewed every six months on the new policy, NEVER on my current policy (except in an accident when I'm assigned fault. Other claims, no.)

3.) Too many tickets and/or claims and the new policy can drop you. On my current policy, I cannot be dropped, for any reason. Sure, the premium could climb to $4,000 every six months, but I cannot be dropped.

I pay pretty low rates on my existing policy, so keeping those features (no driving records checks and no drops) are worth the extra premium. The savings only amounted to about $100 a year anyway, which would disappear with a single speeding ticket. So I don't worry about speeding tickets jacking up my insurance rates.

I just fought a speeding ticket by myself because I forgot to hire a lawyer.

To my surprise I managed to save myself $250 and had it dismissed completely based on incorrectly filed police report. (Speeding 85+ with laser).

Nice.
