Very good. I thought about selling it and decided I can't, I'll not find another with this spec/colour combination. So, new wheels going on and the sub as discussed. May go with a FMIC and downpipe at some stage later. We will see!

And Then This Happened

I was sat there yesterday afternoon waiting for the recovery truck to arrive.

The car has been running very well, I did the MHD flash last week, stage 2+ that made a big difference....

So I thought i would venture out to another rolling road session on Saturday at Ray West Tuning just to see what its pushing out.

After 3 runs, it was a poor result, 300.2 and over fuelling, not a good sign.
Afterword's I drove home and then Boom,,, EML light and a warning on the II Drive.

I went and cleared the faults,,, 30ff is a bitch of a code to properly diagnose so I flashed it back to standard and went for a spin, up popped the limp mode and EML,,, as it’s got to the point it’s beyond my skill set AND I have a good extended BMW warranty that’s the route I took.

It could be just a boost leak, vac hoses, PCV valve (BUT I have uprated that), boost solenoids, waste gates not closing from worn, diversion valves or a faulty sensor or poor connection

What has pissed me off a little is, The Car was running very well until the Rolling Road session yesterday...??

Let's hope it can get sorted by BMW...

Now that's not good. Could be a hose has popped off with the increased boost etc from the MHD. Problem with modding these is that you do start to really push the engine on in terms of boost etc and it can cause issues as it stresses standard parts.

I have the occasional 30FF and unfortunately I got the response from BMW that I needed to return the engine to stock before they would investigate a 30FF code due to not being able to diagnose with the aftermarket parts

Unlucky Steve, hope they quickly sort it for you.
When I first had mine re mapped I had a 30ff turned out to be a coil, I replaced it & a few weeks later it happened again so I replaced all 6 & that cured it. Unfortunately 335is like to pop the occasional EML light

Bit of a noob question but wouldn't the reliability be better by going stage 2 via a remap or is that generally not the case ?

Nope as your pushing components more and moving towards their potential limits.

All sorted,,,, not good news though, £728.00 not much compared to some of the stuff that has gone wrong on other cars but as it wasn't covered under the warranty and the hose that went pop wasn't covered under the parts warranty due to the over boost issue, YES to much boost, YES, they checked to see if it was mapped despite me flashing the MHD back to standard...

Up to now the warranty has paid for it's self but the 335 will be going next year any way,,,,, I need some thing higher off the ground

Damn buddy that’s not good news having to pay out yourself. This is the only thing with engine modding as they start to use all the things done against being able to have it covered by the warranty. I’ve had the same a couple of times. Most stuff I’ve still managed to blag the warranty to cover.

I see you are DCT. Do yourself and the car a favour and get a custom tune with Dimitri at BQ tuning. He knows the DCT better than anyone.

THAT SUCKED,,,,,,

I was starting to hate the car, and was looking at selling it due to both hips being replaced & its a struggle getting in and out.

BUT I got the car back last weekend and haven't bothered with putting the MHD flash back on and it looks like BMW updated the software as almost every thing is back to standard but she is running just right, kinda fallen back in love with it,,, FOR NOW and also running on Premium Benz and that makes a big difference.

It's just wrong to feed a 335I anything less than 99 octane. Shell V power gave a golf git an extra 6bhp on a fifth gear fuel test.

It’s always good to hear this. I’m the same and sometimes it just takes that one time when she’s running well to just forget the issues we end up enduring.
