442 lb/ft tq dyno graph 335xi JB4

Goodspeed performance had a BMWCCA sponsored car show today that was pretty fun. Got the chance to dyno while I was there. Here's the graph.

Yes, it failsafed at 5000rpm each of the three runs. It was a public event and there were multiple cars being run through the dyno and crowds watching so I wasn't able to log it to see why. No serious codes or anything, and it pulls perfectly on the streets of mexico up to the speed limiter so... I'll be heading back to have it dynod next time I have another mod for them to put on. KL Racing FMIC? :-)

Nice! I can only imagine what that kind of torque feels like nice dyno!

Thanks. It's pretty fun feels like a 335i would without the traction control problems I had two buddies with me in the car the other day and did a very short and mild brake boost and all four tires broke loose and it bounced off the rev limiter and kicked me down to second. Second found traction easier and got me to 60 in a huge hurry.
I posted a log on the other forum at 18 psi. It runs fantastically on the street but will have to get a CSV to see why it failsafes right around 4500rpm on a dyno but never on the street. No codes. 3.something 0-60s are a blast

It sounded pretty sick on the dyno too. Nice crowd today.

Thanks. In my opinion, I love how n54s sound with downpipes + stock catback.

It was a fun show. Its fun for me to see peoples reactions to what the car does compared to how stock it looks, and sounds when I'm light on the throttle. As sleeper as it gets

Yeah BMW did a great job with our stock exhaust and down pipes make it sound even better.

I was shocked when you told me what you had done to it cuz it did look stock. It's funny...as soon as I got my black 19" rims people pull up and want to race thinking I have stuff done for sure. Let us know how you do after the next dyno.

I'll try... I'm probably going to speedworld within the next month whenever I can get a good DA to shoot for 11s, if life permits. Reality for me is this- my next mod is a car seat.

JB4 15ohm
Mr5 CAI
UR DPs
Snow Meth Injection, CM10 in charge pipe, 2 cm3s one in each intake snorkel pre filter

Run was done on close to 100% meth, and ~95 octane. I set it the JB4 to map 6 at had it hitting 18psi by 5000rpm

That was my problem, not a high enough concentration of race gas for targeted boost level. Looking at the graph, it was failsafing before then too... around 4250 RPM (when curve starts to drop prematurely) when the JB4 was targeting about 17psi.

So we can all learn that when doing high gear WOT pulls, you need higher than ~95 octane to sustain 17+ psi.

So about 2K in mods it looks like?

And that should be an 11 second car all day I would think

Um, ya, give or take I'd say around $2K. Got the DPs new for $425 I think it was, an Mr5 intake is very cost effective compared to it being arguably the highest benefiting intake option for an n54... meth is very cost effective since I don't use it all the time and its dirt cheap anyways... and I got my JB4 15ohm from a reputable member of the community that lives here in Phoenix... so the most expensive "mods" for me were probably the netbook I datalog with and the BT cable I pull codes with I'll probably piece together a KL Racing FMIC soon here, should be getting my Dimisa exhaust tips any day, and should have the "cheapest" 335i mods per gains here on the forum. That just so happens to perform very very well. No offense to anyone who pays top dollar for parts that perform the same objectives as the highest price ones, its just my own little way of finding that BMW tax to be a silly thing.

My favorite part of this set up is a detail most people browse right over without appreciating- my IATs are below ambient the pre-turbo meth is working wonderfully, despite the general public scrutiny. Maybe some day it will catch up to me. I'll have a blast until them.

I haven't gone through the dyno compilation chart or anything, but I don't remember seeing a higher torque reading than 442 lb.ft for a 335xi. It may very well be out there... and I could be an idiot for boosting that hard, especially with only ~96 octane and doing a dyno pull under those conditions. It was fun to see people's reactions that day still... that dyno consistently shrank the ego of everyone who used it.

As mentioned before though... I haven't made it to the strip in a while. I'd be damned if it can't make 11s, full weight and all. DA isn't fantastic in phoenix, and neither is the track. If it doesn't, I'll probably get frustrated and piece together an inexpensive nitrous solution to 11s.

I wouldn't think you'd need NOS to get into the 11's. But please let me know when you do go to the track....

My car playtime has probably come to a close for a while :-/ until I can get a vbox anyways... Work, preparation to start a "side project" business, school and my girlfriend being 40 weeks pregnant has me extremely tapped out on time unfortunately. By the time I get a second to do anything fun with race gas and high boost at a track... It'll probably be smoldering hot here again
