jb4 adapting

i recently installed the jb4 on my car about a week ago and love it! problem is that most of my weekday driving is to and from work in slow traffic, so i set the jb4 to stock bypass (map 0) for most of the time. however, ive been reading on here that the jb4 takes a while to adapt to the car, should i keep the jb4 on map 1 or 5 and leave it on?

If I remember correctly map 5 is auto-tune, so you should be good using it on that map.

yea it is the auto-tune map.. but im wondering if i need to leave it on this map constantly for a set amount of time for my car to adapt to the jb4. because right now i keep turning it off and on depending on if im stuck in heavy traffic or have nice open road ahead of me.

Map5 requires a few hard pulls to fully dial in. I would just leave the JB4 on all the time

My understanding is Map 5 does not "remember" anything through a shutoff event. Autotune starts all over again.

On the old unit (JB3) it needed time to adapt because of the slow processor, the reason why it did not have auto-tune.

But the JB4 has a faster processor and can do auto-tune, so it does not need to adapt because the processor is quicker.

im guessing a full hard pulls means 2nd or 3rd gear WOT to 6k rpm? think ill do it tomorrow as i'm getting my new brakes installed and will have to break those in as well on some long empty road; constantly accelerating and braking hard. haha i've left jb4 on for the past 2 days and i feel im going to get into trouble with the cops very soon :P

Problem I have with map 5 auto tuning is it will detect traction related timing drops as knock and also flatline as knock. IMO the logic needs to be tweaked or disabled unless the autotune uses CPS to fine tune along with boost.

Already provided this feedback to Terry.

If you upload the new alpha firmware that Terry is testing, the JB4's new learning logic is enabled on all the maps but is only used for boost targeting on map 5, and it does not reset itself when switching maps.

And BTW, the new map 5 while running 30-40% E85 mixed in with 93 pump gas is insanely fast and very smooth!
I'd say its every bit as quick as the older map 3 even when running meth!

Wow, that's some pretty good feedback.
