GTA When are you putting on your winters?
Watching the weather, especially mornings and I am curious how long people will hold off......Looks like a morning high of only 2-3 this weekend so I am betting now is the time.

I just booked Nov. 19th for mine here in Ottawa -- if it snows before I'll be taking the 56 foot limo (OC Transpo.)
With flurries predicted today, I rebooked mine for this Friday am... and now they are on Last edited by Magimac; 11-09-2007 at 07:29 PM.. Reason: installed |

i dont think you should wait until it snows snows...who knows...you may be caught with ur panties down and can bend over cause your summers are gonna be useless and you're gonna have to leave your car parked until either the snow clears or you change your tires there.....good to set a date, not too early not too late and keep to it.

I guess it depends on how hard it is for you to put the snows on. For me, it's a 30 minute job in my garage; so I will do it when it snows. if I put them on before then all I will end up with is bare snows.

Don't do it when it snows. It will be too late. I've been there...

My strategy is if the coming week's forecast calls for sub-zero temperatures at night, along with a chance of precipitation, I'm changing them that weekend. I'm out the door before the sun on weekdays, so any freezing rain or light snow would strand me.
Hasn't failed me yet, except for last year, when I put them on about a month and a half too early. |

According to everything I've read, AWD gives you about 10% improvement in accelerating and turning in snow/frozen conditions, and snow tires give 30% improvement in the same, plus the ability to STOP. No contest IMO...
