54000 miles, high for a 335i?
I found an 07 335i, I like. It is CPO and has a maint contract too. My only concern is that is has 54000 miles? How are these cars with the higher mileage? The HPFP has been changed on it Thank you |

Only a qualified mechanic will tell you if the car is any good. Just because you have to spend 400 bucks + 3 hours of labor some day to replace the HPFP it doesn't mean the car shouldn't be touched. Factor in the financial benefits of buying an older car. Most people will dash out 2K extra for a CPO car and only use that fraction of that balance in terms of repairs. The key is to find an independent mechanic that known BMWs well so they you don't get a$$raped by a dealer.

As a CPO, it's been gone over pretty well, since BMW extends the warranty, but an independent look is always a good idea.

I wouldn't be too worried about the mileage. Just really look over the car to make sure it is in good condition. The fact that it is CPO points in a good direction.

I would buy a 54000 mile 335i only if it is a CPO.

Since it's an '07, see if the turbos/wastegates have been replaced yet. I am now at ~101,100 miles and have had all work that I have mentioned above done plus more. Fortunately, it was all under warranty/extended warranty and currently my car runs better than when new as all the work updated the powertrain to 2009 specs/part numbers and software. The reason I say go for it, is because after '07, each year became more de-contented; Logic 7 standard - gone, glovebox flashlight - gone, underhood liner - gone, console ashtray/power port- gone, refrigerated console - gone, etc.

Almost 60k.. Wow better send it to the grave yard..Mileage is like age...it's a state of mind or in a cars life..state of maintenance...My last turbo car was getting about 30k a year put on it and I owned it for 7 years (5 years with a ECU upgrade installed). If you service it and keep up on especially fluid changes you should be fine...I purchased an 07 with 46k and plan on putting another 100k on it. If it can't handle that..well it's going to be my last "Ultimate Driving Machine".

Don't worry about the mileage or the fuel pump issue. There are way too many individuals on this board that think every 335 out there is going to have at least 5 fuel pumps put in before the car is 3 years old and that every used 335 has always been driven full throttle, hard braking, drifting through corners. Believe it or not, there are a few responsible owners out there.
I had 2 pumps replace in the first 2 months that I have owned the car. Doesn't bother me one bit. Will I get rid of my car at 50,000 miles? Only if I find something I like better. The 335 is a fine ride. If you like it, get it. You have the warranty to give you piece of mind. Good luck! |

It's 54,000 miles, not 254,000 miles. This isn't the 1970s or earlier. Almost any modern car's engine will last 250,000+ miles if maintained and not abused. Hyundai, BMW, Chevy, etc.... All will do it with ease. Other than the HPFP, I wouldn't be worried.

Only concern I would have is the injectors. HPFP is not an issue as all 07 335s have 120K/10yr warranty that stays with car. But the injectors are a very expensive fix and some people have been experiencing repeat issues. If you don't mind setting aside some cash for the injectors, and potential turbo issues, for when the 6 year warranty expires, then I say go for it.
I love my 2007 when its not in the shop and would go as far as saying its my perfect car when its working. HPFP doesn't bother me at all with the warranty but like I said, the injector issue that is popping up here and there is my main concern for long term reliability and cost. |
