Thoughts on this 2011 E90 please

Hello, found this 2011 335i with sport and premium package with navigation...20k miles....guy wants $35,900.

Said that other that routine maintenance the exhaust diverter valve was changed under warranty - what's that? lol

Thoughts on good price. 20k miles in a year and half seems high to me. Was thinking $32-33k would be good price. He still owes on it...not sure how much.

Thanks for input

I paid about $10k under the original sticker for mine CPO from the dealer. Sticker was $41k and the CPO price was $31k. This was in 2008 for a 1.3 year old car with 22k miles on it. I think expecting $20k off is asking a bit much, even if it isn't CPO. A dealer would probably ask about $39k for it.

Don't worry so much about the miles.

It 2008 there was a recession and used car values were at a all time low.

Don't think he will come down to 30k. Trade in about 31-32k. Not sure how it works if still paying on it. Wish I could figure out how much he owes on it....

It shouldn't matter what he owes on it. The car is worth what the market dictates. His loan is meaningless except to him. If the dealer will give him $31k and he's trading it in you might need to be a couple grand higher. Private party sales are more of a PITA than just trading it in, and in his state he may have a sales tax advantage if he trades it. That alone might be worth 2-4 grand.

What do you want to pay and what can you afford. Those are the questions you should be asking.

If that was the case then you're saying my 1.3 year old car would be worth more in 2013s $$s, so $35k? Great, that's only $6k less than sticker with 22k miles. I don't think that's reasonable when invoice on a $41k BMW is $38k. Invoice on the OPs car was like $47k.

Rule of thumb is car loses 20% of sticker when you drive it off the lot, right? So OPs car would already be worth $41k with 0 miles. Add 22k miles and 1.5 years of life/use and that's probably another $5000, but not $10,000. Now, it's not CPO and backed by a dealer, only original warranty, so maybe I'd expect to see that retail CPO for about $38k-39k. Based on that OP should offer $33k and see what happens.

I just bought a 2009 335i with every option including M-sport package with 49,000 miles for $26,500. So is a 2011 with less options and 30,000 less miles worth almost $10,000? Granted I got a really good deal, but I think $36,000 is a little high...

Once you factor in the price of the extended warranty to 7 years/100K miles it costs me about $30,000. Well worth it to me for a car that is under warranty for another 3.5 years or 50,000 miles.

Yes true but knowing how much they owe would give me insight. Not sure why they just don't trade in..,will save on tax for new vehicle. Said selling since kids getting bigger and need bigger vehicle.

This will be fun vehicle and I'm only going to purchase if I get pretty good deal and under retail/private party value. Thinking of offering cash $32.5k. Trade in is 31k or so...

That's not a bad deal, 31-32k... I think that's pushing it. Try to knock a grand off or so.

I bought almost the same thing but M-Sport and with 14k miles for $32000 out the door, this was 6 month ago, so I had more warranty and prices were higher too. You should be able to get one under 30k I would think.
