Scared the Sh** out of me as a few month ago my egine blew and I am not really waiting for such an experience again. But I quickly realized it was just the heat. Strangely enough no engine light or something went on

Ja, was far too hot over the weekend!! Ambient temps were around 30C, but track temp was probably up around 40C if not higher. Car was running hot hot hot all weekend, and had a bit of a power outage at Hohe Acht (highest point of the circuit) where the sun was shining brightest... Oil temps maxed at about 144C according to the data logger, which is mega hot. Good thing I had TWS 10W-60 oil in the engine!

Brilliant weekend all round though - seriously tired after doing over 50 laps of the 'Ring on Saturday and Sunday alone (driving and passenger combined). Still hot here - my car's in the workshop having more power liberated () so will see what happens later today

The DB9 went round a storm yesterday - more people lined up for laps in it today apparently. Still quite busy here too as lots of people have stayed on for a couple extra days thanks to good weather and cheapish hotels!

Was great seeing the various forum members, some old faces, some new. Glad everyone got home safely and hope that you all had a huge amount of fun out here. I haven't taken a single picture so far this time round as I've spent all my time in cars! Will see what others have to offer in terms of pics.

Wow I never reached that high temperatures with mine. I would seriously consider getting an additional oil cooler - even after two consecutive laps with Tony as co-pilot the temps did not go beyond 125 degrees Celsius in mine. I'm sure other people can drive the car even harder, but I would venture the guess that if I had not had the additional oil cooler I would have been at 140 degrees at least.

P.S. Have received some pics by Jochen and will put them up tonight!

What a cracking weekend!!!

Thanks to all who made the effort and Tony for taking care of the finer details.

Turned out to be another very successful trip!!!

Had four laps myself, one which made even Carl scream out! It was very different to the last trip with the high temperatures giving a little less grip than normal.

Privileged to have passenger laps in a Tim's Aston Martin Steve's GT-R Paul's M3 and of course the DXB

Food and drink was superb as usual, my mouth still waters at the thought of the Pistenklause steaks.

Too much to remember just now, sure my brain will recover in time. Did manage to get one video from the trip.

2 - 3 month ago on the German Highway. I just bought the car with 8500km on the speedo and picked it up the day before. At one point I heard some strange noice, sounded a bit metal, and the car would not rev anymore above 6000 for a few seconds, but then pulling again. I reduced speed, to listen and feel, then trottled again and a big bang. White smoke in the front, black in the back... It blew with about 5500 RPM. Very strange.... BMW Münich was interested in the case and I spoke with a guy from engine development in Münich. I got a new engine and my broken one was shipped to Münich. Long story short...

I went to BMW today, and they will exchange the thermostat (there seems to be a new one) but I guess this will not help. They also will check the possibility to put in the high power fan of the BMW Performance power kit (and possible the cooler as well) Maybe even the whole kit, cooling is a good excuse The guy however made a strange remark. He said the kit only fits with the performance airokit, and not with the M tech. This would be crazy if this would be true. Let's see...

Great shot, Ed.
It was great to meet you & Mandy & I hope everything works out well for you.

Thanks to Viv as well for a funsome ride on the Nordschleife - next time we'll reverse roles and you gonna drive!
It was a great to go out with you & your beautiful car, Marcel. It was funny how I could remember Tim's instructions when you reached certain parts of the track.

I got back after 3am on Tuesday morning. Sorry to Floyd for the security issues involved in collecting me in Folkestone.

Thanks to Will for the trans-European transportation & for the general hilarity you provided over the weekend.
A big 'shaaaaaaamon' to Carl & John for showing us all what 'like father, like son' really means.
It was good to meet Steve & Louisa- a great couple with a 'rocket' of a vehicle.
It was great seeing Paul again with Vanessa- hope you have a great time away during UK8.
It was the first time I'd met Ian & Sue & it was a pleasure- you kept some sense of 'normailty' all weekend, Ian.
Andrei & Lucy- glad to have met you both & I hope Carl didn't scare you too much with his evening 'stories' on Sunday night.
Floyd- I know you had a great few days with everyone. I hope you enjoy the photobook in years to come & I hope you do make UK8.

A final big 'thank-you' go to Tony & Tim, without whom this weekend just wouldn't have been possible.
I'll catch up with you when you get back, Tony.

Right, I suppose you all want to see a few shots?
I've taken almost 500 of them, which is less than I expected to take, so I'll get most of them ready over the next couple of days.
Until then, here's a few for you to browse through.

Here are mine - could have been more, but Jochen missed me on some of the laps I did. However, I'm quite happy with these!
