Let me tell you guys the story. Last week my car is having a hard time cranking for the first start in the morning only in the cold. I took the car in for service and BMW told me it was the fuel pump so they changed it. And now the long crank start is back again. Keep in mind its 12 degrees out. So now I don't think it's the fuel pump anymore. It's going back to service Tuesday so ill see what they are going to say. I think it might be the battery.

24,000mi. Rare long start. Had
surging in the summer, but that is gone now. I have PPK 1. Last service 8/12 and SA said no codes found. Next service next Monday.

I've had a few long starts this winter, but that is all. Had it since April 2012 and have about 8k miles on it. No previous work was needed. I see no codes other than normal tuner codes. Stock except for chargepipe and JB4 on map 5(not ISO yet, too cold to change).

My 2011 335i HPFP failed too after 30K. Long crank problem. Dealer replaced my original 13-51-7-613-933 HPFP with 3-51-7-616-446. It is supposed to be the 4th revision. Not sure how it differs from the other 446's. Gas mileage and drivability are improved. Keeping my fingers crossed.
