AluFelgen SF-71 in Matte Black with RE-11's

I posted a bunch of photos in the main photo gallery board - but thought the rim photos might be ripe for a re-post in this section as well.

Here's the original post with all the specs and pics:

Enjoy!

By the way, how do you like the new tires ? How is the road grip ? How do you compare them to the tires you had before ?

I've driven on RE-11's since the product introduction - I was actually involved in the early stage evaluation of the product, so basically, I love them! They are exactly how I want a street/track tire to perform... I couldn't be happier with them.

Prior to the RE-011 I had: RE-01R, S-03PP, S-02PP, S-02 and the S-01.

The RE-11 is a phenomenal product that is, in my estimation, without equal.

Hey fourptdrift,

Have you hade any experience with the Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Specs? I just ordered new wheels and went with them over the RE-11's. I've heard nothing but good things from both, but I went with the cheaper.

The Direzza Star Spec is a great tire - with some caveats.

1.) I can't even consider it as an option for ME because I require 19" rims to go over my 15" brakes. The Dunlop solution doesn't include a 19" size.

2.) The Star Spec only meets the same level of performance of the RE-11 when its shaved and heat cycled. The RE-11's work from day one with no prep. This basically means that while the RE-11 appears to be more expensive, you actually get much better value for the dollar out of it - unless of course you don't shave the Dunlop and don't care about matching the RE-11 and just want a good quality performance tire.

Ultimately, its the Bridgestone F1 patent portfolio that sets it apart from the competition and the RE-11 is the first street tire to use a bona fide F1 sourced and patented tire technology, specifically, Bridgestone's "stealthy block" design. The RE-11 is practically an F1 rain tire re-done for street cars. And how often do you get to put F1 type technology on your car?

Yep. 275... and yes... the rear fenders are rolled.

Thanks for the kind words... I'm very happy with how it all came together!

OP, by the way, what is the wear rate of the RE-11 ? The only thing holding me from getting RE-11s is the concern that they wear fast. I only do daily driving with some occasional spirited driving, never tracking or dragging...can I get 20.000 miles out of theses ?

I am probably the worst possible person to ask on wear rate of tires. Between my alignment/setup... and driving habits... I'm not only hard on tires... I'm hard on the whole car. I'm sure if my car could speak, each time I got in it and started it up, it'd probably say "Oh, no! Not again!"

But beyond that, i will say that I think the RE-11 wear rate is outstanding. I've gone from 3,000 miles on the original S-02 in the mid 90's to around 12,000 miles today on the RE-11. Can you get 20,000 miles on a set? I suppose that's up to driving style. I am sure my mother could.

But the RE-11 has a little caveat. You can't store it below 50F degrees or basically, you have to throw them out. These are extreme max performance tires... cold environments will destroy them.

EAS supplied the center caps, but the center caps didn't work on my rims so I removed the CF logos and mounted them on plastic carriers that I painted up to match.

Thanks for the info !

Wow, so how do I know that when I buy them new, the online store from which I buy didn't keep them in the last winter and let them froze...? Or maybe you can in fact store them in cold temperatures when they are new ?

I imagine most reputable dealers would be exposed to massive liability if they mishandled product, so I think if you buy from the right authorized source, you'll be ok.

Thanks for posting! That's a mean looking car! I'm sure its even meaner on the track!!

I'm debating between the RE-11 and the AD08, which are comparable in price. Any experience with the AD08 on the track?

I also have the same wheels, but I have 235/35/19 and 265/30/19 tires currently on an e90 with Performance Suspension. Would the track handling improve if I changed to 245 and 275 combo? But then I suppose I would rub without a roll? Btw, RE-11 does not come in 265 size.

As always Daniel, your car looks great. And I know that you are a HUGE Bridgestone fan, so nice choice in tires. I didnt know the RE-11 couldnt be stored cold. Thats a problem for me living in SLC since we randomly get warm weather one day, then snow the next. Guess I can stick to my Dunlop Star Specs and deal with the cons.
