There are loads more out there, and one in particular just down the road(well 30miles!) which is newer, facelift, jan 12, more expensive. Trouble is if I pull out I will probably lose my deposit (500) and I signed the finance agreement - but as I haven't taken delivery and till owe several thousand more for the deposit, and have a cooling off period, this may not be an issue. Their customer service is just dreadful though. Maybe it's cos I am English

If the paperwork was sent to DVLA on 17th July, they would have received it a couple of days later. Lets say 19th July.

It then takes 7-8 working days for the paperwork to be "sorted" and received by the correct department within the DVLA at Swansea, (which takes us to 31/07/2013).
It then takes 7 working days for the paperwork to be processed and for you to receive the documents, which in your case, would have been around 08/08/2013?

Try ringing the DVLA and asking for someone from the department to call you back, so they can give you an update. They call you back within 24 hours and to be honest, were pretty helpful.
0300 790 6802.

Hope that helps!
Thanks Raj. To be honest I don't have the time to chase up, if they can't be arsed to do it, why should I. I am mightily irritated ....

Well £500 is £500 and it would be a shame to lose it but I am sure if you say I am pulling out of the deal they would change their tune. Guess it depend how much you like the car.. I hate bad service!!!

Spoke to the dealer today, actually it was the group manager. They eventually called the salesman back in off his days leave, he called and told me it will probably be another two weeks before the plate change is complete. I cancelled the car, no quibble from them and I will get my deposit back ( I wonder how long that will take!)

So, I need to find another X5 and I would hope to get it this weekend if the dealer can move quick enough.

These two have popped up:

Ruby Black / individual champagne leather xDrive35d.....10 plate, v low miles, updated satnav but not a facelift. It is about 40 miles from home. Anyone seen Ruby black?? I like this one and its 31490

http://www.approved.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/...price_ASC|list

This is more expensive, but facelifted and only 19 months old - 61 plate. Bit bland in silver and really pushes the budget, but decent discount. It doesn't look special next to the ruby black one though...

The black one looks nice and its the sweet 35d engine! Having said that the silver one is a lot newer, facelift and good value.

Ruby Black is my fave colour, it is like Carbon Black but rather than a hint of blue it has a hint of red in it. There was a Z4 M Coupe in that colour near me, everyone always commented on it when walking by.
Love that car.

But do think the facelift in silver looks nice too.

Pete, black one for me every time. The colour and the leather are stunning plus has all the right options. Don't like the silver one, looks a bit plain Jane :-)

Just catching up with this now.

Sorry to hear about the trouble you had with DP Glasgow. I used them at the end of last year and they were very good. I did have a crap experience with them before and it does seem like certain members of the sales team are utter cocks.

Hope you get what you are looking for with less hassle this time.

The Ruby Black one is a no brainer. You spend your time inside the car and it's interior is so much better than the facelift one, there is no comparison at all.

The Merino leather is such a treat after the Dakota leather. We all know that the dakota is very tough and very wear resistant but it wins no prizes whatsoever in the beauty stakes.

We all know that a facelift car from BMW involves changing front and rear bumpers and headlight shapes - sometimes an improvement, sometimes not - and they usually slip in some sort of specification "slippage" to help their own pockets.

The silver one is dearer and has more miles and looks like a poverty spec model in comparison with the black one oh, and if you hadn't guessed, the ruby black one is the way to go.

I'm with Alan and the other guys. Plus, from a different angle, this is a car for the missus, frankly she won't give a shit about facelift or not, so save yourself some cash and get the cheaper one. She would probably also prefer some fancy arsed cow-hide to sit on rather than tweaked LED rear light clusters.

Can't recall seeing Ruby Black in the flesh, but as Guy says, I also associate it with the Z4M as a preferred colour choice. If nothing else it's a bit different from normal black which is a positive thing.

What happened to the requirement for side-steps LOL

When it's all done and dusted, and if you remember, PM me the figures. Just interest in knowing how much one of these beasts sets you back compared to the QQ.

Just seen a video of the ruby black X5. It is lovely. All the wheel arch paint and sills have been re painted and now sealed in the clear film. Interior looks amazing and the boot is all black carpet - just what I needed due to dog use!. Just waiting for the figures now.

Hopefully things progressing with a deal on the black one.....

Hats off to Douglas Park BMW in Glasgow, they were as frustrated as me with the unacceptable delays in the DVLA, certainly not their fault and my deposit was returned this morning. It could have been awkward having to pull out of the Space Grey X5, but they were very understanding and have redeemed themselves in my eyes and they get my thumbs up! It was a lovely car at a great price so it won't last long.

Fingers crossed I will finally get an X5 very soon!

I pick it up at 1pm tomorrow. 29 hours from first phonecall to the dealer to picking it up.....even the salesman was surprised it can be done so quick.

I'll send you over the figures tomorrow Roger.
