Fuel Pump/DSC Error

Today when I went to drive my car, it ran for 5 seconds and shut off on me. I got a fuel pump and DSC error codes in iDrive. I am taking it in tomorrow morning and will post the results afterward on what they say. I am under warranty still so I am not bothered. I just hope my loaner car is something fun this time.

No update yet. I will call them tomorrow. They didn't have a technician available on Saturday.

The technician just cleared the codes and purged the air in the lines. Car runs fine now.

I think the low pressure fuel pump is starting to go out.

Fuel pump went out today. At least they gave me another diesel loaner. The F30 28i was a disappointment.

Monk, this is the first D fuel pump issue I have read about I think. More data points: Mileage, use of additives, JBD setting, frequency of application of JBD (well, you know what I mean---are you hammering it a lot?). Sorry this has to be you, but hopefully this is a random one-off kind of failure.

I hope it's just a fluke occurrence and won't happen again. My car has 43k miles, and I drive it consistently kind of hard. I don't floor it all too often really. JBD has been set at 100% the whole time since July 2012 and no additives used.

rare case of pump going out ussually on gassers they go out around 100k or so, the use of JB or additives I believe has nothing to do with the issue

I believe I found the issue. They were saying my HID's were melting the battery cable causing an electrical error. These don't pull enough power to do that. There is a battery cable recall that causes the same exact issues on what mine has.

I hope that it's the recall that is causing this and not a fuel pump error.

Monk, will defer judgement, but I don't think our D vehicles are part of that recall. So your electrical issue, if in fact it is an electrical issue, may be unrelated.

It's not actually. I just called my friend and he checked to see about my car and said since I have the cold weather package, it is not part of the recall. Cars with the hot climate are under the recall though.
