To Tune or Not to Tune
So...
I have a 2007 335i Coupe with around 82,000 miles on it and I am looking for a tune for it. I am thinking of the JB4 but my worry is with a car with that many miles on it will the tune just tear the engine / turbos apart? the car really only has to last a year but there is no way that I can afford $8000 for new turbos if the old blow out so what should I do will the tune damage the engine / turbos. is there one tune that is better than the other for older cars Thanks in advance ~ASFfergie |

I personally would leave it be at this point in the car's lifespan.
Pretty much any tune, regardless of manufacturer or price, is going to put some degree of stress on the engine and its parts. |

Tunes never hurt cars, they actually extend the life of the engines. Just program the JB4 to output 500whp and 570 torque on 87 gas. Trust me, you'll be fine.

run your car hard and you will effect the engine sooner or later, tune it and it will effect it sooner or later... tune it if you are only able to keep up with the costs if the car does break dwon. GL and happy tunning.

100k on the clock and running strong. With proper maintenance and a bit of common sense, these cars can run forever. Tune it! |

I would start saving up for the Vishnu/FFTEC turbo if you think yours are going to blow up soon. Pricing is out to the public now.

You have an N54 so you're in the wrong section. Mileage = Shit indicator of whether or not to tune it. There are several people who have 100k+ of hard, abusive miles (tracking, drag strips, etc) and their cars are fine.
If the car has been properly maintained & the internals are in good shape, mod the hell out of it. Investigate when the last time the spark plugs, ignition coils & fuel injectors had been changed since those are standard frequent maintenance parts. If you're really gonna get aggressive with modding (beyond just a tune + intake), I'd recommend you get a compression test done + the intake valves cleaned. As long as the frame isn't rusted out, suspension is in good shape & the engine doesn't have any serious damage, you're good to go all out |

Tune it forsure if your keeping it, if you only need it to last a year I wouldn't touch it. WHen i first tuned my car with 56k miles it brought out the bad hpfp and injectors along with spark plugs that were eventually going to go bad anyway. Now if you can't afford those repairs and dont want to shell out for maintenance dont tune it...
