N54 - MAP sensor gunked up?

Updated my JB4 software and changed my plugs today. While I had the cover off I removed the MAP sensor to clean it. I noticed that there was a big blob of hard oil varnish covering half of the wire loop that I couldnt get off with CRC cleaner. Is this something that could cause issues? Replacements are only $92 bucks, is it worth it?

It's probably blow by from the turbos being caked onto it. I wouldn't worry if it works fine after cleaning.

I would say there is a chance it may cause issues. I know when my MAP was dirty I was maxing out my fuel trims. Could also cause some rough idling issues. How is the car running now?

I am having some cold start issues, misfires, stumbling etc. Plugs looked great except 6 which was a little wet with fuel, #6 injector is probably leaking a bit.

Car runs great when warm, no issues at all. The gunked up MPA made me wonder if it is somehow to blame for my cold start problems, could it be making the car run rich?

It could be if its gunked up enough make the pressure readings incorrect. It would basically put you in a different part of the map than you should be.

I had cleaned mine while putting on my CP and it appeared to help smooth out my idle even after my walnut blast

Id clean it thoroughly , replace it, or swap it for an n20 sensor if you desire higher performance and higher boost levels. When mine was slightly loose and dirty, it wreaked havoc on my car until I fixed it.

Just take some CRC MAF cleaner and a tooth brush to break up the gunk. I wouldn't leave it on there if you know its there.

Wow I also have a glob in the tip of my tmap sensor (from manifold) which I assumed was part of the sensor - is this not the case??
I sprayed it down and my sensor is also discolored and brownish, maybe this is the cause of my slight rough idles/hesitations.

This was one of the issues I had when mine was causing problems. Rough idle compared to normal and little teeny hesitations that you could barely feel. cleaning, re installing, and tightening everything down fixed this.

The is a ball at the end of the metal like prongs in the sensor this is normal. Small amounts of gunk will not affect its performance. This is a MAP not a MAF sensor so it reads vacuum and pressure not airflow. You can clean it a bit but usually when one of these go, they go. I would wager that OP's issue has nothing to do with this sensor and everything to do with that leaky injector.
