Cheap fix to Seat belt butler missing the belt

Hi all,
Newbie to the forum. Thought I'd share this video I found in case it's not in the forums, or in case you might not be aware of this cheap quick fix to the seat belt butler missing the belt.
Worked perfectly when I tried it, hasn't missed a beat since.

In case link does not work:
locate the exact spot where the butler extender grabs the belt - spary starch it and iron it like you would a shirt on an ironing board. As easy as that.

Cheers

Thats really good! I was thinking of putting some sort of a stiffener on the belt before.

Added velcro to my seat belt and on the silver face of the Butler and now it catches every time.. Make sure you raise your seat belt buckle all the way up
above where the butler catches your seat belt then add a 1inch strip to the seat belt up under it..so the buckle will not slide down and take your strip off.. Then add less then half of an inch to the butler and you are finished.

I don't buy it. Mine was dropping the seat belt too and the dealership replaced the butler and now it works fine.

I tried that already did not help at all for me it might work for you. But the Velcro I installed seems to be doing the trick.

The butler is not the case unless there was something else going on with yours...But it's the seat belt that gets worn in the same spot over time that causes it to drop the seat belt... Very poor design by BMW.

I just took the fuse out a month after I got my car. Sorry, the velcro looks ghetto.

You can use clear velcro i just used this because it was an idea i had and it works.. The only thing that is Ghetto is having you are your passenger twisting there back out of shape trying to reach the seat belt in a 40 to 50K car.

I ironed it and added hair Gel.

it worked for 2 days but now it doesnt' catch again, the seat belt is too soft.

I dont' like the velcro but I have to think of something.

This mod may not be for everyone but its the only route I see, and mines works 98% of the time now. The only other route is to have your seat belt replaced ,but you will probably be doing that every two too three years. I'm thinking of replacing the black strip on the catcher with clear Velcro to clean it up a little.
