What is the real speed limit?

My 335i is an auto with no sport package. As far as I know my speed limit should be 130MPH. Somehow today I've reached 140MPH. I've never gone that fast in my bimmer. Boy was I scared. I've done 120MPH many times, but 120 and 140 is a huge difference in this car.
So, does this mean that the speed limit is not really a limit yet? Did anybody else go over 130MPH in NON-sport 335?

Probably not, more than likely you're just suffering from nerves (1st time going 140 and all). I passed 140 on my bike last summer and was scared of getting caught, irritated from the wind noise, but overall having a blast. For the record, I've only gone about 120 in the bimmer.

According to my GPS (Garmin c330 I think) the speedo is about 5 MPH slower than indicated. From my observations this is not linear, in other words 140 on the speedo would actually be 135. But the update speed is sort of slow so this could be wrong.

+1 depends on car, you could have been doing 130 even though the speedo said 140

This probably explains why my speedo could go up to 140...

The speed limit here in georgia is 70 on the interstate

But seriously, the speedo in the cars reads optimistic, at 140 it's very optimistic.
