it will give you the production date, if it is an early production date, and the ECU has not been updated you might have one of the two not supported versions, requiring you to have the ECU updated by your dealer before installing COBB. Mine left the factory 6/2010 and had one of the not supported versions.

EDIT: it should have been manufactured before 3/2012 included, AFAIK.
My production date is 04-29-2011.

I have read a LOT about it here and I have been DYING to try it but I am not that good at coding. The 6AT slush-box is really the weakest part of the car and I can't leave it in Sport auto so I end up in Manual mode 95% of the time. I don't mind traditional torque converter based ATs when they're software is good but this one is a world apart from my last DSG when it comes to crispness, timing and gear selection. From what I've read the Alpina B3 software solves all of that PLUS adds rev matching down shifts (?) AND you get the gear numbers displayed. I have a coding cable and a Win7 laptop but I have never been brave enough to try it. I've wanted badly to add the digital speedo and rain sensor sun roof codes. I'd pay someone to do it for me but I don't know of anyone in Northern Virginia who does it. I'm pretty good at wrenching but the fallout of coding mistakes scares me. How complicated is it really?
I originally wanted to do it myself but I realized that the cable I had was not compatible with the car. Eventually l caved in and had someone do it locally for $50. If you want to do it yourself, I would highly recommend contacting "Wedge" because he will teach you how to do it for free. If not, you can pay $50/60 to have someone code it remotely.

Hit or miss, I heard.

I have a '12 e92 n55 and the v3 works on mine. Someone on the forums told me that I was lucky as not all 2012s are supported.

YEP. Same boat and it sucks. They also do not plan to make it compatible either just because the market for it isn't worth the R&D.

FYI for those wondering, Cobb has no plans on adding or revising any maps for the BMW plateform...I'm not sure if that is just for the N55 or what, but I just received this notification.

Just purchased a used Cobb AP v2 (AP-BMW-002) for my 2012 n55 e92.

I looked up on Realoem.com the computer module to make sure I have the correct one to use the AP (Basic control unit DME MEVD172). My question is I'm not sure what ROM version my car has. I purchased it as a CPO from a dealer in PA a year and a half ago. Not sure if they would have updated the ROM to the latest versions.

Is there anyway to tell if I'll have issues installing the Accessport? Any way to tell what ROM I have with the AP before install?

I just bought a ap V3 (ap-bmw-003) it says it’s compatible and I did all of the cross referencing. Went to plug it in, and ROM not compatible or need a DME update.
