Welcome Lisa, nice choice of car and spec

I have the HiFi option with the USB port and I cannot recommend it enough. The AUX port is not a good way to control your ipod, so go for the USB if you can (its a pretty cheap option). When I test drove for a day with my ipod and an AUX cable the temptation to fiddle with the ipod at lights was too great and would have probably been dangerous in time.

Pity about the colour though

My 320D has only 700 miles on it so its no where near run in and I'm at just under 38mpg at the moment, once its run in I think mid 40's should be what we expect as there's no point driving like a nun all the time. Its a nice engine overall.

and as for Carlos...well it wouldn't be the same round here without him

Mental Note: Hmm next time I register on a forum, pick a girls name (Carla?) and use a picture of a young attractive woman, seems to get lots of help....I do wonder why

Nope you need a special "Y" cable. My dealer ordered it for me and threw it in, but not all do, so you need to check.

Yes, the ipod doesn't send music out via usb due to DRM worries. So the usb controls the ipod but the sound is sent out via the lower connector to an analogue port.

I think you might be able to use the standard cable via an ipod dock, then plug the doc analogue port into the bmw, problem is the ipod would fall out of the dock every time you cornered

Hi Lisa and Welcome!! (from another younster......well under 30!!)

Great choice of car and it'll be a much better drive thean the Passat.
Had mine nearly two months now and absolutely love it, the only real problem I have is that you can't open the boot with the key in the ignition!!

I go out to the shop her and end up just driving around some local b-roads and getting home an hour or so later!

It's a friendly forum and very helpful. Hope you enjoy!
Not for a long time have I seen a newbie get so much response, I wonder why?

Hopefully you can get some photo's up soon........of the car !!

You can if you press the door unlock button on the dash and then press the soft button on the underside of the boot lip.

Heh. Well I'm from Northern Ireland too, but I don't think my photo would provoke quite the same level of excitement.

What part of Norn Iron you from Lisa?

Hi guys, just a quick update to say that after a little persuasion this morning i have managed to get the USB interface added into my car order. Thanks for all the advise on that one.
Im from outside Armagh whomever asked that question.
And whilst i appreciate all the compliments remember i am here to ask about BMWs! So if we could stick to helping me with that please! (although i won't really ever be too cross as long as the compliments are not x-rated ok!)
Anyone ever come up with a nice picture of a silver 3-series with these wheels i will be getting? I am still not sold completely on them as i havent seen them on a car from a good angle!
Thanks again.
Lisa.
