My dad has a 2014 F06 650i GranCoupe, and the headlights on it are ridiculously bright as well, I think they're LEDs though and not HIDs. But the few times I drove my cousin's 08 E92 335i I was very impressed by its adaptive headlights and the overall brightness of its HIDs compared to the crappy halogens in my E90 325i which I am planning to replace with a set of LCI E90 Bi-Xenons. I am not sure why you don't like the E92 lights?

I feel like the pre LCI E9X headlight is not bright enough too. Mercedes ones are good, bright and white, I think they are 6000k and our pre LCI ones are 4300k?
I also found that when I first turn on my car, the light is white, but it gradually gets a bit yellow. Don't know why that happens... |

I must admit this was one area I was dissapointed in with my BMW when I first bought it, coming a from a lexus I thought the headlights on that were better in lighting up the road
I've never bothered with upgrading the globes as I literally never drive my BMW @ night. |

Adding in brighter lights help, but I think there is a film on the projector lens that causes a "duller" light output. Also the cut off is not as pronounced. Nate might be able to chime in as he has pulled a few headlights apart. |

bi-xenon and LED fog light comparison
I find the bi-xenons fine but I added high power LED headlight to my 55W halogen fogs and it adds a lot more light, yet still has a similar plane to the low beam. Nice and white also and work well as DRLs. They increase brightness ahead and to the sides. A little in the distance but not blinding like high beam.
I measured the lumens and the LEDs produce approx 3x the light at 3000 lumens compared with the 55W halogen's 1060lumens, but the overall light output in lux is very similar in the distance due to the poor reflector. I think they would be great in a proper headlight housing with good reflector, although it is said that the LEDs don't project the light as well as the halogen, mainly because they are mounted sideways rather than ahead. I'm going to get some more LED headlights for my other car if anyone wants me to chuck some extras in. I'm considering changing my halogen flashers (the inner lights) to LEDs and coding them to work in parallel with my high beam. Here is a photo comparison: Xenons only: Xenons + LED Fogs: Last edited by donR; 07-06-2015 at 10:19 PM.. |

No but would be good to try though the Philips 6000K HID globe is approx $180 each.
There is an Osram version, 5000K, which is little better at approx $140 each. It is a bit of a pricey upgrade I think if your HID globes are still good but they do claim up to 10 to 20% more light. |

then, there was a police block on Causeway for breath test, the police stopped me, not for breath test, but told me to switch off the fog light and to turn on the high beam instead.... ==' at the time, I was wondering....what's the purpose for the fog light then...? |

I think with more and more DRLs on the cars perhaps the plod is getting more accepting. I guess you still need the option to turn them off if need. |

There are clear lenses for sell on that website.
I would really love to do it but just wonder if anyone has done that before here? That lense costs $40 USD only, much cheaper when compared to a Philip 6000k. |
