So I bought a set of Bilstein B8 for my E90 325i of Coupes33, he had them on for 2,000kms on his E92 335i and later he replaced them with Koni Yellows because they were too hard and stiff for his liking.
I am going to install them on my car sometime over the next couple of weeks as soon as I am done with the iDrive job. I've never been in a car running Bilstein B8s but the general consensus I get from reading is they're pretty stiff. I bought them because Bilstein is a reputable brand, they perform well on track and because the price was good. Progressive vs linear springs: My understanding is, progressive springs will give you a better ride, slightly more comfortable without sacrificing too much performance. Linear springs are possibly the better performers on the track but they're too uncomfortable for road use. Now, does it matter which springs I go for if I want to counter the Bilstein B8s stiff ride and end with a slightly softer setup for road use? For example: should I go for a set of springs with higher or lower spring rates if I want to counter the shockers stiffness? In the Honda world spring rates used to be a very hot topic, in the BMW world people seem to buy H&R or Eibach springs and call it a day. In short, I don't want the Bilstein's strong dampening capabilities to over-dampen the springs and I end up with a drive feel like the car is riding on bricks.. Also, Eibach springs seem to be hit or miss when it comes to lowering. Plenty of threads around discussing the rear of the car is sitting too high on Eibach springs. So I was thinking maybe I should just stick with H&R if they make progressive springs for E90 coz they seem to be more consistent with their results. Thanks in advance Photos of the shockers:

I run H&R sport springs with Koni yellows and am very happy with the stance and ride. I would not go with H&R race afaik they are lower and stiffer than the sports version. Plenty of threads on this topic most peps recommend the H&R or Eibachs as you pointed out. I vote H&R sports

B8s will work with M sport springs. If you dont have M sport springs or want to change springs then Eibach pro kit probably best suited. The B12 kit is the B8 shocks paired with Eibach springs
