E90 aftermarket GPS Install?
I know there's another post about this navi system but I plan on getting if I can get this installed in my 323i.
but the only thing i'm confused is that how would I get that in my car when it will conflict with the heating/ a/c and knobs because the 323I doesn't have an auto section for the heating?? the heating + a/c controls are different check the pics.. it says on the info of this system that its just one factory plug you just unplug and plug into the new one. Does that mean i'll have AUTO for my heat and a/c and also buttons not knobs to turn up the fan? http://www.bimmernav.com/store/catal...-item-241.html Last edited by ginxer86; 10-10-2010 at 09:32 AM.. |

I ask the questions you're afraid to ask.

A few points about that unit. It is one of many flooding the market from China and has veryy iffy quality control. It comes with different faceplates to fit VW and MB cars as well.
The VW version that I'm familiar with is running an ancient version of WinCE and didn't come with any other software. Buttons fell off almost immediately and the vendor (not the same one you linked to) wasn't very helpful. The units have to go back to China for repair. Ask questions first. What version of CE? What software is included? Is the GPS antenna included? Where does it mount? Who does warranty service? What is the guarantee? and finally How will the climate controls work with my car? Me? I wouldn't install that if somebody gave it to me. |

I was thinking about getting that, too, but I'm a little weary of the overall quality of it. It's a shame because the only other option would be a flip-up navigation setup, which isn't as clean.
To answer your question, you would have to replace the manual controls with the automatic ones. |
