100,000 Kms
So I just hit 100,000 Kms in my 335, anyone know of any major things that need to be done at 100k or do you just wait for 120?
I have already had cylinders blasted and just replaced plugs and coils, flushed gearbox and replaced filters and oils... |

Maintenance on these things is definately expensive!
In addition O2 sensors, vanos sensors also! These made a big difference on my car with 76000 kays use |

If your car is auto then change the gearbox fluid and the filter and the electric connector rubber sleeve. BMW says that it's a lifetime fluid but I don't believe this crap, neither do any professional mechanics or engineers that I've discussed this topic with. When I replaced it on my 325i (runs similar ZF auto box to the 335i), the fluid came out dirty and dark brown in colour.
After replacing the fluid, my car shifts slightly faster and smoother now. Not a huge difference but I carried this job to extend the transmission life mainly Be wary though, this job is expensive, the fluid is $55/L from the dealer and the car will need about 8-10L of this ZF special transmission fluid. While the filter is built-in the gearbox oil pan, so you'll have to replace the oil pan to replace the filter, don't forget the oil pan seal while you're at it, it's cheap. BMW dealers will sell you the pan for $500 but I got mine from overseas for 300 AUD A lot of E9X owners tend to skip the transmission service coz it's expensive, but it's just as important as the engine to look after IMHO. In Melbourne, SouthernBM will do this job for about $800-$900 which I reckon is very good pricing.. I did it by myself at home and I paid about the same just for the fluids, the pan with filter and couple of seals! This was before I started taking my 325i to SouthernBM

P.s. get your power steering fluid changed as well. It's only $40 from the dealer and the car only needs 1L. All E90 use CHF11S which is a aviation grade hydraulic fluid, comes in a green metal container from any BMW dealer.
Except if your car has active steering then your car will use a different type of fluid, to find out check what the power steering reservoir cap says

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...645844&page=21 I reckon they could be possibly counterfeit injectors (I found a chinese co on alibaba selling them!!!) the oem injectors are made in italy by memory and are expensive hence why they went with cheaper (and some say inferior) bosch injectors vs the piezo items in the N54 (BMW also cut costs on the N55 with single turbo and apparentley cheaper engine internals) Last edited by DR-JEKL; 07-09-2015 at 04:40 AM.. |

Thats the first time iv seen somone bad mouth them... hardly convincing evidence there too, looks more like somone just shooting his mouth. Always seen people saying the opposite and that they are good to go and have been running with no issues for xxxxx kms now.
I always thought the injectors are made by a 3rd party for bmw, and the ones bmw receive are simply branded and priced accordingly the others escape the bmw parts tax but are the same unit. I think there is overwhelming support of the rockauto injectors from my reading. |

Looking at getting an LSD soon, unfortunately I have the welded diff so it is going to be super expensive... unless anyone in Perth is selling one with the diff already installed... |
