M power kit and servicing

Hi guys! Have anyone done the power kit by bmw on their car? Looking to hear if it's worth it. Got quoted $4950 for it at south yarra bmw and got charged $940 for a normal service with oil change, and change of light bulbs for the brake lights

If you spend $5k on quality aftermarket boltons and get reputable private BMW specialists workshops to install, you will get more value for money in terms of power.

Unless you are still under warranty etc

Please don't spend anymore at BMW.

All Australian delivered 335's come with oil cooler as standard.

A good flash tune will cost you about $300, and with an extra $1 - 2k parts you can have a car that will kill any 'power' kit offered by BMW dealers.

Says in his profile, he drives a 320d, so not sure how they compare to US spec cars.

Also this part:

Only (some newish) diesels have PDFs I believe.

Hmm wow, I can't believe they charged you for that ... You can do this yourself and it takes about 1 minute.

Scotty sorry to correct you but all aus delivered 335s do not come with oil cooler as standard. Pretty sure you need to have sport option ticked from factory or you have to have the M sport option. That aside 5k for a tune is stupendous and not surprising from bmw

Its 5k for parts, tuning and labour. If I'm not wrong it's a new intercooler a bigger fan and the ecu

I believe you are incorrect the factory m pack is new ecu tune and auxiliary water cooler and upgraded radiator fan. No tuning as such or larger inter cooler. This is known as MPPK stage 2 kit, you can also get stage one which is just the ecu reprogram. You don't really need the stage 2 extras unless you are going to track the car.

I have this on my 335, BMW also initially told me 5k, however as I was buying the car from them I told the I would give them 1000 based in us prices at the time(which were about 50 percent more than that, also note the dollar has gone to hell since).

Btw I love it, I am not chasing the big numbers like a lot of guys here and want everything on my car to come from BMW. Also have the m sport exhaust (but with custom black tips thanks to _ian) which I also love. BMW say the two add around 25kw and 50nm. Definitely noticeable and definitely worth while, but not for 5k.

Do not go to BMW for any services or aftermarket parts period!

They are rip offs.

Cheapest quote I got was from bmw Melbourne for $4500. Wonder how much they make selling this apparently the parts are $3000 from germany. The power compared to the cost definitely does not weigh up. Would have considered if it was $2,500 to 3000. I heard good reviews on it thus was curious on it.
