Muffler Delete

Okay so I have read many threads on a Muffler and Resonator delete. I am a bit confused. I want to have the deep throaty sound and I read in a thread that that when u take out the resonator, it adds a tin sound and makes it not as deep. Is this true? Can anyone tell me what I should do? Muffler Delete? Muffler and Resonator Delete? All I want is it to be really deep and throaty..

It's way out of my range though.... I like the idea because it's only gonna cost me about 90 bucks for everything... and to me it's the deepest sound ive heard

well i wouldn't do just resonator delete. I'm either doing just muffler delete or both i'm just wondering if the resonator elimanates the tin sound or should i take that off also

haha hmm, what is it that you have e90david??

....easiest and best sounding thing i think you culd do is res and muff delete and replace the oem muff w a magnaflow muffler, i can almost guarantee you will like it...

i did 3inch piping outta the 1st set of cats straight to borla muffler and it sounds godly but i can imagine that juss the res and muff replacement shuld sound almost as good, and not too expensive

Just get a performance muffler. Somebody around me has one on his 328 and it sounds pretty mean.

So mastermayham your saying I should just buy a Magnaflow muffler and cut out the resonator and put 3 inch pipes from the cat to the muffler?

well its kinda an expensive setup because its literally a fully custom sytem...

a cheaper and good sounding option you have is cut the res and replace the oem muffler w a magnaflow...ull feel a lil power gain too.
but if money aint a thang then do it…or instead you can just cut out the cats, and res without redoin the whole system.

Depending on where you go to get it done they might tell you they don’t want/cant take the cats out cause itll make the car run like shit…Im pretty sure some other forum members have cut it out too, the only thing I wanted to do aftr cutting them out was reset the fuel mapping or ecu so it culd adapt to the new flow. Ill prolly do that w a tune and dyno sometime soon

after I did my whole exhaust w 3in pipe I’m feeling a considerable power gain...

You don't feel any any power loss with 3 inch piping on a 330? I thought we would lose massive amounts of power since we are not F/I.

nope not at all, the smaller piping was restrictive w the cats and all that jazz, aftr cutting it all out, and getting bigger pipe i feel like its breathing better and getting better airflow out..

the resonator delete gives you more a of a raspy sound. the muffler delete gives you the throaty sound but results in loss of HP and turns your car into a huge gas guzzler. IMO just get an aftermarket exhaust system
