I only changed my charge pipe to run methanol. Stock is plastic, BMS one is aluminium so yeah, they will see it.

I told myself just a JB4 would be enough for me. So WM is right welcome to the slippery slope. See you near the bottom.

Yep. You only need to worry about your cp if you blow your stock one or want to run meth.

I'd be doing downpipes first.

I know a lot of people will disagree but for me the jb4 and dci's have been sufficient and the 15 psi it's now boosting at is enough to keep me amused whilst not being unreliable.

Nice one on the purchase of the JB4. I'd certainly just do it in stages. Get the JB4 and DCI's on. See how that goes for you then look to do other bits from there. Everyone is different and for some that's enough and others no where near enough.

Installed my JB4 and DCI's yesterday. Wasn't nearly as bad a job as I expected it to be. Although I failed in trying to get the usb in through the glove box!

I've read a lot about DCI's not making much difference. I was looking into a Stett CAI but they are quite expensive. I think a jb4 will do me for now, still got my cyba tips to fit, they have been on my boot for months. I'm still undecided on whether I want to do the PE mod or not.
I think alpina flash will come before any kind of intake aswell

I also think the same. TBH only really got the dci's since BMS do a deal on both JB4 and DCI for $599. My concern is that the engine bay gets so hot that all they take in is hot air - when I looked into this people had said that BMS did their research and wouldn't have made the product unless they felt it would benefit.

Sort of true. The real solution for hot air is a larger intercooler however.

As part of the bundle they aren't bad value, but they don't add a lot relative the the JB4 itself.

Joke is, anyone with an NA car would love the thought of an extra 5-10hp just from intakes!

I think DCI's are only really proven to help breathing in the upper rev range and whats more important is the inlet temps going into manifold hence the inportance of the intercooler cooling the IAT' and the common use of Meth.
I find my inlet temps are usually between 5-12 degrees above the ambient outside temp even after a couple of hard pulls, what sort of temps do others experience?

You don't need to worry about the temps. The car moves so much air through the bay when high revving that all the air is coming in from the outside. The stock box sits on top of the manifold and gets very warm but worst of all it has a 90 degree bend for where the air must go.
The air all passes through the IC though so it gets cooled down.

When I ran logs with the stock air box and the cone intakes, the cones were consistently lower but you can feel the car not choking over 6000 rpm.

I've never been worried about the IAT's, as I have upgraded the intercooler. In fact the only time I've seen high IAT's is on the dyno due to lack of air flow even with a huge fan in front.

Fitted my jb4 last night (in the dark).
Had a play with map 1 last night and wasn't too impressed straight away, not driven my car properly for about 3 weeks though so my butt dyno comparison was a bit out. Changed to map 5 on the motorway today and gave it a few WOT in 3rd. Wow! I was hitting 16-17psi on a standard car with v-power. I really felt the difference. I'm already eager for more power!!

Fitting was quite easy, would've been easier if we weren't using a lead lamp hanging from the bonnet. The USB to the glovebox was the hardest bit, and I haven't fed enough of it through but it can stay like that, I already have a USB extension which will now live in the car.

Anyone that's on the fence about getting one like I was for a long time, don't wait about just get it!!

One thing I have been wondering will it now keep up with (maybe even be quicker than) an E92 N54 with DCT?
I have an E93 with steptronic.

The E92 is quoted at 5.3 to 60 and I'm quoted at 6.0

It's a friend that has one and I've not told him I've got the jb4 yet, I want to see the look on his face when he is struggling to keep up (hopefully)

Going WOT in 3rd will not allow the JB4 to learn properly. You need full, 3rd gear pulls from 2000rpm to 6000rpm. Find a quiet stretch of dual carriageway and don't cook your brakes. Then stick with the same fuel whenever you can.

If your buddy has a standard E92 and you have a E93 with JB4 you should annihilate him. You will have at least another 60hp and from much lower down in the rev range. M3 were struggling to keep up with me in that state of tune. Once I added the DP they had no chance.
