Chavtastic? this isn't even my build thread and even I've taken some offence lol.
So does this mean everybody who has LED angel eyes is chavtastic? If you remember his headlight had condensation so he changed it to the LED ring system as it looks better (subjective I know) and is very roadworthy.

One could learn from Sumil's taste in modding .. just my 0.2p. In my view he has had one of the best looking e92... ever .. and no doubt this e39 will follow suit.

End of the day everybody is entitled to their views but I do think calling it chavtastic was a bit ott given his achievements with his e92 was a testament to his vision.

thanks Shaun/Sam - every one has their opinion but i guess this is the reason why not many people have gone to town on their E39's

and i have always wanted to try and do something a little different and away from the norm, i guess with the 39 being such a classic and old time fave people are going to find it hard to adjust with what i will end up doing to it lolll - and i completely respect that...

i am nervous myself as to how this will turn out as now everything i do will be a custom job and nothing off the shelf - so lets see

Modding will always split people and their opinions. Fair play to trying something different. I had mixed opinions on the X5 when modding it as not many had gone to town on them either.

It's all good for sure as otherwise it would be a very boring place lol.

Will be interested to see this progress.

I just personally don't think the smoked and LED ring look suits an E39. His E92 looked good yes, but the car is more modern.

The air has peaked my interests, I can see what you're going for with the headlights, maybe the rest of the mods will pull it all together.

The car I had before the e91 was an E39 saloon in gunmetal grey with grey interior. It was such a nice place to be and when driving at speed the noise level was so low when I moved to the E91 it took a lot of getting used to.

Keen to see how this turns out! Love the contrasting interior - something I looked for but didn't find.

There is no reflector, so the light output will be nigh on non existent, most of the light comes from the reflector, as seen here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Headlamp#Optical_systems

most bulbs are even blanked off at the tip, to better redirect the light into the reflector.

obviously you have friendly MOT folks to pass your illegal headlights

We used to see a good few 5's sadly most have passed on due to one thing or another, it's reallybrefreshing fir me to see someone giving a golden oldie a modern twist the light realy do put a new visual dimension on the front end. Look forward to your continued enhancements and if this works to be as good as the old 325d(sadly missed)then it'll be epic

hi guys,

been very quiet on here lately but there has been plenty going on with the 39er

at first i told the guys i wasn't going to go too crazy with it but that did not work out very well for me lol

so i thought i would share a few of the updates with you all

so first off i wanted everything custom on the car as i never really felt that the off the shelf mods for the e39 were anything special and
i wanted something different.

when it came to the front bumper i sourced a splitter which i really liked from another model of BMW completely and said to Dips at Custom Cars that he needed to make it work.
also managed to find some Hamann foglight covers to make it a little more different...

as some of you may remember from my E92 days i never liked the idea of sticking parts on to bumpers etc and prefer the moulding in clean look....so this is how the front bumper
turned out once finished with it....

then came the bootlid....

Custom CSL style bootlid with a shorter recess for the number plate

In the meantime...lets make a start on the wheels, now i know these would be a little marmite but i was going for the whole Champagne & Strawberries theme...hence the red wheels!!!

a 3 stage custom paint job....

needed to clean up the Barrels...

The Wheels, fixed back up with 3.5" Custom Radinox Dishes ordered from Germany

The bootlid once painted....

Also had a little work done to the bonnet

Some little additions to the door handles....

The finished Exterior....

More Updates to come - all comments welcome, i know this car was going to be hit or miss with some, but i thought why not try something a little different with it

let me know your thoughts!!!!

That looks fantastic and very unique - I especially love the wheels

In all honesty, I am not a fan of the bootlid but thats just my opinion and i applaud you for doing something different!!
