Koni FSD/Eibach vs. H&R Touring Cup vs. ST V1
Currently considering these three options for a spring suspension overhaul on my 330i.
I'm looking for more driving feedback, overall chassis stability, and less body roll. ~1" drop. At the same time, I have to deal with potholes and construction for 1/3-1/4 of the year so I can't have my car crashing into every bump. Leaning towards the touring kit as from what I can tell, it's a good bit more responsive than the FSD/Eibach combo and gives the perfect drop. And it's $200 cheaper than the ST V1s. Anyone can provide comparison between the three? (especially interested to hear if ST V1s are worth the extra money. I understand they're essentially KW V1s with a different steel coating) Thanks! |

I've owned several suspensions on the E90. OEM sport, H&R sports over stock shocks, ST V1 coilovers, Eibachs and Koni FSDs, B&G and FSDs, and finally stock sport springs over FSDs. In Seattle where we have pretty bad roads I've been unable to find a good lowering solution, at least on 19" wheels. If you have 19"s I don't know that you'll be very comfortable on any lowering set up other than maybe an adjustable dampening coilover. The E90 is engineered with very little suspension travel so lowering it reduces the available travel significantly. This can be OK if you drive on smooth roads where that travel isn't being up frequently, but on bumpy roads you'll be engaging the bump stops all the time and transferring the shock into the cabin. I just went back to stock sport springs over the FSD shocks and it's noticeably better than when lowered. I decided I'd rather keep my 19"s and raise the car back to stock height than go back to 18"s and keep it lowered.
Hooy - I don't know where you see ST coilovers for $850, but they're $1150 on **********s.com. |
